| I was injured protecting Gizzie from a german shepard He came running towards us when he saw her and I picked her up to protect her and he jumped on me to get her.. I have scratches all down my arms and bruises and scratches on my legs.. I was so scared he was going to get to her anyway I just held her close to me and tried to cover her up as much as possible... What is up lately with big dogs trying to get our babies

| I hope that you are okay. That had to have been scary! Did the owner at least come over to apologize and get the dog?

| So sorry to hear that. Sounds like a nice solid walking stick should be in order. I live out in the country and when i take Jake for a walk with me, I always carry a stick. I will not hesitate to pop a dog on their nose that comes running out after him. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Thank god you weren't seriously hurt. I don't know WTF is wrong with these dog owners. I was walking Zoey on Sat night and this big black lab came running up to her..I had scooped her up already though. The owner was like he's ok he loves other dogs and we even have a cat at home. I didn't want to take any chances. I am wary of any other dog that is bigger than she is even if they are friendly. The other day this guy was walking a big old black chow and I crossed the street and went the other way. Shoot I was scared for both of us. I guess I have a big of left over fear from being bitten by the rottie. Thank god your both Ok. What did the idiot of an owner say? Personally I am also sick of seeing so many dogs off leash.

| No, the dog just came out of nowhere He had on a collar so I know he belonged to somebody but I just ran inside and he ran away, Im ok only a few scratches nothing serious and I would take a lot worse to protect her I shudder when I think of what he could have done to my little baby

YT 2000 Club Member | I'm glad you and your furbaby are ok even though you have suffered some injuries yourself. Where was the dogs owner? Were they anywhere around? This is so scarey. My daughter has a lil 5 1/2 month old chihushus and she takes him out to the lake and at a park here and walks with him. She picks him up as well when any dogs on or off leash come around her and Luke, but what happened to you could happen to my daughter or anyone else. It makes me so angry that people don't keep their furbabies on leashes. If it were me, I'd turn the owner in if you know who the dog belongs to, the next person that this dog does this to may not be so lucky.

YT 2000 Club Member | I just read your other reply to a post here about the dog coming out of no where. Since you don't know who the dog belongs to, I'd call animal control and make a report so they can look for the dog before this happens to someone else. If he or she had a collar on, perhaps it has tags and they can find the rightful owner and fine them for letting their dog run at large like that. I'm so glad you and your furbaby are ok. I shudder to think what could have happened. I'm gonna have my daughter to start carrying pepper spray with her when she walks Luke. I hate to have to think she'd actually have to use it on another dog, but my gosh, people and their dogs are being attacked because dogs are running around off leash, we need to be able to protect ourselves should we be put in a very aggressive situation.

| Your fast, motherly reaction kept your baby out of harm's way. I always fear if something like that were to happen to me I wouldn't react quick enough. I have stopped walking my Lexie in the neighborhood because my neighbor's small dog was recently killed by a loose pitbull. She walked her dog faithfully every morning and evening. I was told Animal Control found the pit, but I still won't take any chances. We're lucky to have a big yard and house that they get plenty of exercise, and we'll take them to the dog park or beach on occasion (but that's even scary sometimes). I'm sooo sorry for you both. I'm sure it was a scary situation. But good job on your part. |

oh no! I hate that for your neighbor... and I'm sure you would do the same thing, its all instinctual, thank god she was in reach, had she been across the yard or something not on a leash who knows what would have happened..
