| Puppy eating "big dog" food. Please answer!! :) So my little one is only about 2 and half months old. I feed her puppy food but of course she has no interest in it and will only eat our older dog's big dog food. She can chew it up fine, t he size of the food is not an issue, but I am wondering if this is safe for her. Can it be bad for her health to eat regular dog food when she is still a puppy? And vice versa our older dog LOVES to eat the puppy food. The grass is always greener... Is puppy food bad for older dogs? I have been trying so hard to just get them both to eat their OWN food out of their OWN bowl but nothing works...what can I do?! Any suggestions or info would help!! Oh I also have one more question I'll just throw in. Is it bad for yorkies to eat rawhide bones? Our dogs love them but I worry that they can't be good. Thanks in advance. |

and second.. yes rawhide is VERY dangerous for any type of dog.. they can chew off a piece, swallow it and it expands in their intestines occassionally causing a blockage. | |

| Okay, no more rawhide for her. I would be devastated if anything happened to her. They should have a warning on those labels! |

| Yikes! Rawhide is terrible for any aged dog! I believe it should be outlawed!! Most of our rawhide sold in the USA is imported from South America and the far east...mainly China. Terrible for our economy first off, and then even worse for our dogs health. A huge portion of imported rawhide carries the salmonella bacteria, which can killa small dog fast. then it can get lodged in their tiny throats, tracheas, stomach and intestines which can kill your small dog. thirdly, most imported rawhide is made out of cats and dogs raised for that purpose! Ghastly in my opinion. I have a whole web page devoted to this scary issue on my website listed below. Please read on if you ever give your dogs rawhide treats. As for "grown up food" puppies need more nutrition for thier growing bones and organs. Puppy food is necessary. Sue & Cricket |

| I went thru this with Sam and his brothers! Charlie and Martin gained weight eating Sam's food. I got where I would feed Sam separate or as treats. I found he would eat his puppy food outta of my hand or while the other boys were in the other room.

| Wow...I am HORRIFIED to see that rawhide is made from cats and dogs. That sickens me and makes me feel terrible that I ever gave any of my dogs that. I will definately never get them again. Thanks for the info. Does anyone have any recomendations for treats or bones to give dogs instead of rawhide? Something that will entertain them and is tasty? |

| Gross! What do you give to chew on -- not real bones, not rawhide, not snacks (too many calories), so what is there?

| Sam gets Bully Sticks for chewing. But for treats he gets different things.... he loves Yorkie Yummies and Diggem Smacks from YT People.

I had this problem with my two. I wound up mixing the puppy food and the adult food (Both dry) and they both get both that way! I free feed so there was no stopping them from eatting each others food!

| We free feed also. When we knew Ruby was pregnant, I mixed dry puppy food and adult Canadae (which is supposed to be for "all" stages) and they all ate it. But when Coco was nursing those big boys I had to add all kinds of things (cottage cheese, wet puppy food, chicken, chicken broth) to get enough food into her. Another YTer told me to put the dry puppy food into the blender, and not to moisten it for them. I just keep a bowl of this in their pen,and a bowl of water, and they seem to love it. Everyone is eating their own food again.
