| Average Price for a 2 year yorkie that is housebroken? I am really interested in a yorkie but she is 2 years old and housetrained. They are asking $1,000. I feel that it is a lot. Especially when i could get a puppy for that price. Could someone inform me on what I should really be paying for her?! |

| I definitly think that's too much for an older yorkie. Do you know why they are asking so much?

| Thanks for your responses Not really. I made an inquiry via phone and its listed for that price, i am assuming it is healthy. What would be a reasonable asking price? It is housebroken. I don't want to insult her. |

| Is this a show dog, or a rescue? Who is selling it, a person, broker, or breader? |

| Thank Might be a show dog. But it is not a rescue. She is a breeder I believe. She is selling a 4 year old for $400.00 and the 2 puppies for $1600 or so and 2 5-6 month old for $500 and $600. I am a little confused. Going to meet her tonight so I should have more information. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Take pictures of the dog. I'd be interested in seeing what she looked like. I do not believe that if she is a beautiful, well mannered dog, that $1,000 is too much to ask.

| I'm not sure what the situation is but as far as the price of $1000 for a 2 year old I kind of look at it differently. It seems high BUT you have to consider that with a puppy you have to have her shots and spaying done and train her etc. and you don't really know for sure how big or small she will be when she grows. I would ask the following; 1. Is she spayed and 2. Has she had her teeth cleaned yet. And, 3. Is she potty trained. That in itself is a plus I know in NJ to spay is $350 and to have the teeth done is around $200 - $250. This is all things if done that you would have to spend if you got a puppy for the same price. I got Tia out of our local newspaper. She was bought and then placed for sale by the buyer. Although, I technically did buy her, I consider her a rescue since she was bought then put up for adoption with fee. She was almost a year old but potty trained and spayed and had all her shots. I paid $900 for her BUT if you deduct what it would have cost for the spaying I really only paid around $400 for her. And, I didn't have to pee pad train her She is now 2 yrs. old and she is a GREAT DOG. Potty trained, well behaved and beautiful. By the way she is not a full Yorkie either. She is part Maltese and part Yorkie. Sorry, so long just trying to give a different prospective. So what I'm saying is that depending on the situation etc. $1000 is not bad. Elaine |

| Let us know. I would prefer a potty trained Yorkie as well. I know when I went to get Addie the breeder was also selling a 1 yr old female as well, she was housebroken and so cute, life would have been easier getting her instead of a 11 week old puppy. We just changed the carpet now, Addie tore it up. Of course, just with any child, you can't think of life without them, so now I am grateful to have Addie, but the 1 year old probably would have saved me $$ in the long run!!haha

I am in no way saying that it is right. I'm just giving my guess on why one that age is going for the price of a puppy. | |

| A two year old female that is being sold to breed is in her prime and that is a very fair price. Most breeders would ask 2,000 or more for her. The four year old at a cheaper price is done or close to being done as a breeder. |

| I think it's a fair price, even though it's true that you can buy a puppy for that some places. My Max just turned 3 and a friend had his sister; I am not positive if she paid the same as I did for Max (which was $1200...he's not registered or anything)...she may have paid $1500, but I don't think so. Anyway, she recently sold her to my best girlfriend for $1200 and my friend couldn't be happier. She would have paid anything to have her, b/c they were so bonded. Of course, this little girl has been spayed, had all her shots, has had her teeth cleaned every couple of months and the lady had invested a lot of money in her (which didn't matter to her). But with all that, she still set the price for her at what we paid for them as puppies, so I think it was a pretty good deal. She's a great dog, my friend doesn't have to go thru the housetraining issues, nor deal with the after-spay care either (although, she is the woman's personal assistant, so she actually DID go thru all that anyway, hehe). Anyway, I think $1000 is fair. Good luck with her!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think it is a fair price is she is what you are looking for. I paid a lot more for a 13 month old not housebroken, but she was exactly what I was looking for and spayed and I knew she was healthy. I have been very happy with her. Let us know what happens.
