I think it's a fair price,even though it's true that you can buy a puppy for that some places.
My Max just turned 3 and a friend had his sister; I am not positive if she paid the same as I did for Max (which was $1200...he's not registered or anything)...she may have paid $1500, but I don't think so. Anyway, she recently sold her to my best girlfriend for $1200 and my friend couldn't be happier. She would have paid anything to have her, b/c they were so bonded.

Of course, this little girl has been spayed, had all her shots, has had her teeth cleaned every couple of months and the lady had invested a lot of money in her (which didn't matter to her). But with all that, she still set the price for her at what we paid for them as puppies, so I think it was a pretty good deal. She's a great dog, my friend doesn't have to go thru the housetraining issues, nor deal with the after-spay care either (although, she is the woman's personal assistant, so she actually DID go thru all that anyway, hehe).

Anyway, I think $1000 is fair. Good luck with her!
