Elaine did not say ALL Amish. If you know anything about one of the worst puppymill states in this country, you would know what she wrote is true.
There are a lot of mills owned by Amish people and they do not treat these dogs as pets. They are caged like chickens and are never let out. It is cruel and it does make you wonder how they can treat dogs that way.
I think that is her point, not that all Amish people own puppymills.

The BTCA through ARBA.org has determined that the Biewer Terrier is its own breed. I do not believe that the Biewers will improve hybrid lines. I know I will not sell a biewer to someone who will deliberately creating hybreds. This is against the breeding practices of all the the Biewer clubs in the U.S.

I wonder if the German breeder knew this was your plan. Most of us are proud to brag about our Breeders from Germany...we'll tell folks in a minute where our dogs came from...nothing to hide or keep secret.

Yeah, I have been waiting for them to close it. They are probably asleep. LOL

And I know you mean about the Amis situation but it bother me still. To me, (my opinion), it's like saying a lot of black people have dog fights. You have to keep in mind about the Amish that don't do anything wrong. amish probably breed alot in that state but do a lot of caucasians breed alot in another? What about hispanics or christians? We only hear puppymill, not amish puppymill, right?

all of the experienced breeders should get together and use their akc connections to stop the abuse since they seem to know all about these puppy mills

OK, Shrek, if you have no secrets, then why are you so vague about everything? So far, you have told us zip about you except that you want to "improve" your mutts by mixing in Biewer genes because he has such great bloodlines. You wont say what health testing/screening you will do on your breeding stock to improve what-ever breed you are trying to improve. You havent asked what significant questions you should ask potential buyers nor elaborated on any guarantees or refunds you will have. And why are you so secretive on where you got your Biewer? Or do you not want the breeder to know what you are going to use him for? You are acting just a little like a BYB'r. So far all I have gotten out of your posts are: you want to breed small mutts and are going to improve them by mixing in a little Biewer genes; you have a waiting list of potential buyers, and these designer breeder breing alot of $$$$$$$. Best of luck with your "breeding program", what ever it is.

True. I wouldn't tell any of you a thing about what I do if you started calling me names and talking about me because of my views. She is new here and had an idea in mind. Other than embracing her and teacher her right, everyone had a state of disbelief and started talking down to her and about her. Was is so hard to believe that someone didn't know as much about mixing breeds as everyone else? Isn't that in the rules to not bash but be nice? Everyone has been so rude and their colors have come out. I guess it's easy to attack the new person that haven't gotten a chance to read the other threads about breeding?

All I can Say is.. I hope all the pups that you are going to sell would get fixed and microchipped so you know where they are... in the future.

Probably but....

N from what I have read-the % of genic heath problems is much lower in Hybrid! there can be problems, but the "recognized breed"is higher in health problems.

I think the key thing in this- is to have educated breeders-
for both- the Hybrids- and the "Recognized Breeds"

I found this!They are talking about labredoodle's- but
One statement about the Toy Group-just jumped out at me!
Breeds in the Toy Group were DEVELOPED, TO BE SMALL, CHARMING......

To me that is saying almost- or every Breed in Toy group- was DEVELOPED..........

From Mutt to Pure Breed

In order to make the leap from a lowly mutt to a pure breed officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the breed must satisfy a number of criteria. There must be at least 300 Labradoodles within the U.S. and distributed among at least 20 states. The dogs must have a National Breed Club demonstrating interest, and there must be at least a three generation pedigree—three generations of Labradoodle-to-Labradoodle matings.

The new breed must also have predictable characteristics and fulfill a specific purpose, said Daisy Okas, a spokesman for the AKC, based in New York City. Breeds classified in the "Toy Group" category, for example, were developed to be small, charming companions. So a low-allergy buddy doesn't seem so far fetched.

The AKC currently recognizes 150 breeds; the Labradoodle is a work in progress, and is not yet a recognized breed in the U.S. or Australia.

"My goal is to create the best, healthiest breed I can that will be allergy friendly, with a non-shedding low maintenance coat, and that will have a mellow temperament, and be intuitive and easy to train," said Manners. "The Labradoodle is the ultimate—I wouldn't go beyond it."
