Default I can do it, I can do it...

You guys, I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about this. I need to make the appointment to get Coco spayed. She is almost 20 weeks (5 months). I want to do it before she gets her period. She's just so small and the idea of leaving her to go under is too much to bear. I am getting teary thinking of leaving her alone. I wonder if her vet would let me stay with her. I'm so scared but I know I have to do this. HELP ME DO THIS!!!! I know it won't be a hoot to her but I'm scared.

Awwww, girl it will be ok! I'm convinced that this is far worse on us "mommies" than it is on our poor babies! When Sully went in to get neutered, I cried all the way there and teared up all the day he was gone until he got home.

However, the vet smiled and said that Sully was her easiest, smoothest case she'd had all month and after that he had a quick, easy recovery! So yes, you CAN! And we're all here for you! And Coco will be healthier and happier because of it.

I know how you feel! I remember whe Lucy went for hers. Speak to the vet, we did and ours was very sympathetic and we were allowed to stay with Lucy from when she had her sedation until she was really dopey. Does Coco get panicy at the vet? Lucy does and again the vet was sympathetic and made sure that her op was done first so that she did not have the stress of being stuck in a kennel without Mum. They know how hard it is for you and any vet worth their money will try to make it as easy on the both of you as possible

Desi was spayed last Monday, as I was driving to the vets office I kept saying to myself " I will not cry" "I will not cry". I told myself "millions of dogs get this done all the time." I was ok until the vet told me she had to stay overnight... that was it !! Lost it !! My eyes started filling up and I said no way I can leave her overnight, absolutely NOT !!! My poor vet, she took one look at me and said " ok..ok.. pick her up by 6 pm. She got through it just fine, much better than I did. (she is 7 months - 3 1/2 lbs.) by the next morning, she was back to normal.

You can do this! I was a MESS when Simon went in. Of course he did great and I think the vet consoled me more than him! We are all here for you, always know that and most of us have been through this so we totally understand.

I know how you feel. I have not been able to face making the appointment for princess Chai! She is only 2 lbs and the breeder actually sjuggested I not have her spayed because of her size. Chai is almost 8 months old and has not had a heat yet, but I am sure it will be soon. (She has been kinda moody lately.HaHa!) It was pretty easy with Buddha but I think the neutering procedure is not as invasive as the spay.

It is good to know that there are vets who will let you be with them as long
as possible. This has given me the courage to ask my vet about this for her.

I know its done everyday to millions of dogs...but this is my baby. Her vet is so awesome though and she adores him. She actually gets excited when we approach the office and loves playing with him. She licks him all over. I know she will be in good hands, just the thought of leaving her is unbearable. Maybe if I take the day off and just wait in the office.Do you think that will be worse than if I work to keep my mind busy?

I'm not sure if it's good or bad. Part of me feels it's better to have your mind on something else to help easy the worry. But the other part of me feels it's better to be there and available in case (GOD FORBID) something goes wrong. Then you'd have to leave your job and rush over there like a crying mad woman. I took off for both my dogs spay/neuter, as well as for Codie's luxated patella surgery. Katie was even smaller than Coco is when she was spayed - she was only 1 lb 14 ounces. But she did GREAT - better than expected. When do you plan on having this done? Codie and Katie send lots of kisses to Coco!!

I think you should work if you can't be right with her. That way you can come on to YT for some moral support. If you just sit in his office you will be climbing the walls!

She's only 2 lbs at about 20 weeks. I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE THE APPOINTMENT YET! That's why I needed this thread to give me positive feedback about their experiences with their babies, especially the tiny ones. I'm so scared, everytime I dial my vets number I hang up on the last digit (just like in the movies). I really need to make the appointment before she gets her period I've heard that it's better to get them spayed before their period.

Mac weighs 2 lbs 15 oz and he was a year old when he was neutered and one testical was not decended. Mellie was 8 months when she was spayed and weighs 4lbs. (what a chubby). Yes I cried when i dropped them off. My vet is great though. We went through a lot together when Mac was a baby. They had to spend the night but they got to stay together in the same crate. They didn't even mind my 400 phone calls checking up on them and even let me talk to them on the phone. I was a wreck all the same until I picked them up the next morning. They were just fine. Everything will be alright but we can't help but worry about our little furbabies.
