| Paid cash in full prior to each of the furbutts coming home. Where deposits were paid, got a signed and dated receipt and a receipt showing paid in full with the Akc litter # on the receipt. Last edited by chattiesmom; 03-08-2008 at 03:53 PM. |

| If someone wants to pay payments, I just tell them the puppy stays at my house until paid in full. I do make a deadline for the payments also. I did pay payments on one of my Skyes that I was going to show, but I knew the breeder and it was ok with her and I. |

| I like being able to make payments.. but thats why I also like finding a breeder with a puppy thats under a week old that I like the parents from.. That way I have 10-12 weeks to come up with it.. And I don't agree with the saying that if they can't afford the price of a puppy then they can't afford the care.. I don't have the cash to pay upfront (and with the price of yorkies going up ).. But I have atleast 5 credit cards that are used for emergency vet care or something along the lines of an emergency for my dogs...So I guess from the "been there, done that" ordeal.. If I was a breeder, I would take payments as long as it took the new owner to pay.. If that meant it took 4-5 months, fine.. If thats what it takes for a good home..

| You can make all the payments you want before the sale, not after. I let a 6 month old small male go on payments once...the deposit and next two payments came right on time...the Yorkie got hit with a baseball in the head and the owner felt it was best if she applied the rest of the payments to vet care...I did not agree and she said I was more interested in getting the money then seeing the dog get well....made me sound uncaring... |

| I may sometimes stretch tight at the end of the month sometimes but there has never been a time Andy didn't have everything he needed plus some. I am still working on saving the money up for the puppy I eventually will buy from helen. Just cause u don't have a thousand + money laying around does not mean ur furbaby will go neglected. |

| YT 2000 Club Member | When my daughter, my husband and I bought a yorkie for my sister, we took her out to the breeders house, she picked out the pup she wanted and we put a deposit down on him, he stayed there with the breeder and then we paid the rest of the price off when he was ready to go home wit my sister.

| I have seen a very few breeders/kennels, that say payment plans ,to qualified buyers! I am sure they have a plan set up by a bank or something, or at least a contract-and credit is checked! some legal contract would need to be made!! When I got Banjo- I paid a deposit first visit- paid balence at pick up!!

| I had to pay for my puppy first before I took him home. For Miko I paid her half and went back that Friday to pick him up and give her the rest of the money. I wanted him to be at home with us all day over the weekend before we were back at out wild week days. With Nyla it was the same, but she gave my Nyla at a VERY reasonable price. I had brought Miko from her and she is a real sweetheart I would recommend my breeder to anyone. She is always available for me when I have any questions and she shoots me a email twice a month since I have had my puppies to see how they are doing and if I have any questions. |

| Id say that the pup stays with you until its paid off...checks can be stopped and people can "disappear" Dawn |

| Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I have one puppy placed where the buyer is making payments. The puppy was placed with 2/3 paid--and a promise in writing that the final payment would be made within 30 days. Unfortunately, the buyer had an injury and has been off work on disability and on a lesser income. So I am still waiting for the final payment. ..... Since this was an excellent placement, references were perfect, home check was fine, and the buyer stays in almost daily contact with me, this was a good opportunity for the buyer. Would I do it again, I dont know.... |

| I paid full price for all three when I picked them up. Please don't tell me someone wants to make payments to you! When my Boston terrier had puppies, I let a close friend make payments on one, but she had him paid in full by the time he was old enough to leave his mommy. |

| I found Kimchee when he was ready to go; he was 12 weeks old. The breeder let us took him home for a 'test drive', we didn't put any money down but just a name card. We felt in love with him and we went back to pay the breeder the next day. I later asked the breeder (now she is my friend), and she said that through the conversation with us during our first visit, she truly felt that we were good people and trustworthy. So she let us go with Kimchee without paying a buck but a name card.

| My breeder took paypal deposit, balance upon delivery. I would think it is up to you. Might be nice to accept pay plan until pups are
