| Yorkies ears are not cropped to stand up, usually shave very short and taped to get them to stand up, I'm no expert though.

| 5 months is never too late BUT you do NOT CROP thier ears. You use tape. First the ears need to be shaved on the front and back to get the weight off of them. Then they are taped for a few days to a week, here is a link that should help http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/TapingEars.html Sonya

| My Logan was 6 months when his ears started to come up. I didn't tape them or shave them, I thought they were cute down. Now they stand up all the time, but when he's tired they droop. I've heard you can give cottage cheese & that will help them stand. As far as I know they don't crop yorkies ears & i don't think you'll ever find a vet willing to do it at this age. We had a great dane that had it's ears croped when it was a baby & they cut them too short & they laid flat against her head. I just say be patience & they might come up all on their own.

| Ive never heard of someone cropping yorkie ears. You have to try and tape them to get them to stand, or maybe they will stay floppy. |

| I thought about taking my shepherd in and having them do surgery on her one ear that flops, but, I decided against it..she is who she is and I love her no matter what..I don't use her for breeding or show, so, it doesn't matter..I would say love the little guy for who he is and his personality and don't worry about the ears...if they're going to stand they will stand if not, then get another one with the ears up.. |

| Angela had the same problem but only one of her ears would stand erect so the vet told me that the hair growing in on her ears is to heavy so shave her ears and they will stand up. (without the tape) And he was right!! so now she has perky little cute ears.

| I know you were asking about taping and I would be nervous that I would mess up the cartiledge or something to I would ask your vet about taping if you are not comfortable about doing it yourself. BTW If members on here had any idea how uneducated I was about Yorkies I was when I came here they would have not allowed me to join! I didn't know if they were born with short tails or if they were cropped. It didn't occur to me whether Lucy's ears were cropped or not at the breeder but I am very glad I didn't have to ask that question.
