| Gorgeous Coats Hi ! My 4 month old yorkie Ruby gets groomrd often as my intentions are to have her in a full coat. I groom her 2-3 times a day with coat conditioner or a mixture of 3 parts water to 1 part conditioner. Can some one give more tips on how to keep her on a full coat that would be envied by every one I really spoil her. Sorry don't mean to sound cocky. Please give me those hi dden secrets. |

| Prouducts I like Hi...I also have a 14 wk old puppy who I'd love to achieve a full coat on... You will get much input here...Many of our fellow YT members have Yorkies with Beautiful coats.... I've been using Chris Christensens Prouduts... http://www.chrissystems.com/ These are wonderful...I use the day-to -day shampoo's and conditioner...and also the ice on ice finishing spray to reduce tangles.... Another good brand is Pet Silk...I also like this company and they will write you back and tell you what is best to use if you tell them about your dogs coat type. http://www.petsilkonline.com/catalog/index.html I just love the detangling shampoo and conditioner...the detangling spray..and the Liquid Silk....really helps make Sophies coat silky and smooth... Some members love Plush Puppy.. I have only bought the blow dry cream...its good if there is any mat...and I put a dab on that and it comes right out. http://www.plushpuppy.net/index.html Just know that Plush Puppy take a good time to come...for some reason they are super slow... ***Hope this helped...**** Enjoy your puppy...

You can also email your yorkies picture to Plush Puppy - they referred me to the Reviva Coat for Chanel who has REALLY long hair and it works really well. I like to alternate products. I'm one of those people who can't shop indiscriminately - I pick and choose very carefully and am VERY happy with these products.

| I have to plug the CC system too. It's made a huge difference. I also use Redken anti-snap leave-in conditioner after his bath and it makes his hair so soft and manageable.

| I use the CC system on my girls, i really believe in this product, i dont know what i would have done without this product, Chelsey's hair is getting long now and when she walks through long grass she picks up pieces of leaves and sticky stuff, all sticks to her hair, i brush her through gently by spraying ice on ice on her, works wonders!! I got my first yorkie in 1984, back then i dont think these products were available yet or i never knew about them, my first furbaby had a very thin stringy coat and was called ugly duckling for a long time, then i started wrapping her with cocobutter every week, slowly but surely her coat came right, after i admit, a long time she had a beautiful full silk coat and turned out to be beautiful!!

| Hi: We have been showing our Yorkies for about 5 years and I have to agree that the CC products are very good, especially Ice on Ice. We put our dogs "up in oil". There are a lot of products for this, but our first show girl was allergic to the Summerwinds coat oil, so my breeder/mentor gave me her old recipe which I have been using since. It is 1 T olive oil, a tsp of conditioner concentrate (I'm using Vellus (www.vellus.com - another great line of products) and 8 oz of water. After their weekly bath (never brush dirty hair), I apply it and don't shampoo out. Good luck with your project! CJ Last edited by yorkiegold; 07-19-2005 at 05:17 AM. |

| Villette, its like a thick butter, we used to get them in the afro shops, im thinking of using it on Chanel now too coz her hair looks kinda dry to me, its not the stuff we use on our hands, its a hair product that some nations use on their hair, they leave it in for several hours and wash it out, it makes it shine If u cant get it there ill send u some

| To get a gorgeous coat you really have to take care with the dog. They need to be kept off carpeting, because when they rub and roll on it, that breaks the hair, they should have satin covered pillows to lay on in their beds, or they should be covered with a soft cotton material. They should be oiled and wrapped to prevent breakage, and to help the hair grow. It is a lot of work keeping a show dogs coat looking good, which is why most show people cut down their dogs after they receive their championships. Much, much easier to care for. |

just fooling with you - you're right - it IS alot of work - which is why I don't stress too much about my girls - they have long hair and when it stops being fun - or gets to hard to maintain - it will be cut - but for now - it's pretty easy to manage...it just takes daily maintenance just like our own hair. With lots of love and patience (and good grooming products) We all can have the best yorkie possible - and each is special and gorgeous in their own way !

One hidden secret that some don't mention, is to put 5 drops of olive oil in their food each day.
