| Rescued 2 Now what do I do? I rescued a 3yo Yorkie boy and a 7mo Maltese girl yesterday. We got them home late evening and spent several hours cleaning and clipping mats. The little boy was in terrible shape. I gave him a big can of food and he's acting better this morning. The little girl's eyes were infected looking so I put ointment in them. They were matted shut this morning, so I worked to get them open and put some eye ointment in that the vet had given me for my little shih tzu. They'll be off to the vet first thing in the morning and then get scheduled for spay/neuter when they're healthy enough. The girl hasn't had any shots, but looks fairly healthy. They were so matted, we just shaved them off. Their ears were so full of hair, I wanted to scream at the owner. I'm keeping them separated from my 4 until they get a clear bill of health. Oh, please don't beat the owner up too much. She has a 1yo child with cerebral palsy and has just become overwhelmed with caring for her. The Maltese was her teenage daughter's pup and she lost interest after the first week.

| That is nice that you took in these two babies.. I am sure they will have a clean bill of health. but a good idea to keep them separated.. I am sure the owner found it very hard to cope with having so much care going into a child.. no one can really fault her on this one.. She did the right thing by rehoming them.. I am sure this all has been very hard on her. good luck with the babies.. |

| With lots of antibiotics and care, my rescues are looking better. The little Maltese girl (Shay) was so shy, but is starting to warmup to me. I honestly think she has rarely been out of a crate. Caj, the yorkie male, will come to me, but cowers down at my feet. They are both starting to play around and it's fun to see them with the others. I thought I would get them healthy and clean and then rehome them, but they'll be staying with me. Heck, what's another cup of food and a vet bill here and there compared to the enjoyment I'm already receiving.
