That's just wrong! I've got to admit though, he's awfully cute with the puppy cut. :) |
had you ever spoken with her about your desire to grow his coat out? I think this woman is nuts - and is a control freak. I have long hair myself, and after bad experiences with to many hair stylists that have short hair, I won't go to a stylist with short hair - IMO they do not understand my desire for long hair. I would say you so-called friend is the same way. Your boy is still a doll - but I would be be furious just the same - oh & she'd be history |
I just had a LONG talk with her...it started out ok. I explained to her somewhat calmly that I was really upset about what she had done. She, however, was rude and insensitive. She said, "it's just hair, I can't believe you're making a big deal out of this...why would you leave his hair long like that anyways? The dog likes his hair short better." That last comment...and I lost it. I pretty much screamed at her for about 15 minutes. She was silent...said NOTHING during the whole yelling...then she just hung up the phone on me. I have pretty much decided to cut all ties with her at this point (no pun intended). I just cannot believe she would do this to me. And YES she knew I was growing his hair out. I had thought about showing him for God's sake...:( I had a conformation class scheduled for him...:( Guess I'll have to cancel it now...God that just makes me want to throw up. I'm so upset right now...I know a lot of people reading this thread are probably like, "Nicki get over it, it's hair." But like Michelle (MyFairLacy) said, it's serious to me. It would've been different if I had done it myself. Sure I've given mine puppy cuts before, but now that I think about it...the only ones who I've done that to are the two cotton coats. Tuckers hair is not (well I should say WAS not) cotton...it was super silky, just look at his eye shine...bright green. Thanks for all your suggestions guys...I'm glad I got it off my chest and talked to her, but at the same time I still feel like crap...I've just got to try to breathe and remember that he's NOT hurt...he IS still cute, just smaller now (haha). And...sigh...*tear*...she even cut off his top knot...:( :( :( But really, I have to calm down because Brooke is going to have these puppies soon, and I know I have to try and tone down the stress for her. Sigh...what a night... |
I just cannot imagine a friend taking something like this upon themselves..  you did good.. I would have had to say something... I mean it would not have been nice neither..:( I am sure she must have thought his hair was nicer then her dogs or something stupid like that..But wow he is so beautiful...cannot take that away from him that is for sure.... |
Oh and that makes sense about the jealousy thing...she was planning to show one of her dogs last year but he couldn't ever get past the judges because he had too many flaws. Then her female she bought to show (from a non reputable breeder I might add) ended up being 10 lbs. She's been known to be jealous in the past, but I guess I just never thought she'd actually do that to someone who has been her good friend. Just goes to show that there really are very few people in this world you can actually trust...that's why I love my dogs so much, because they can never betray me... |
I dont think any of us think you are being silly...its not "just" hair...its something you have worked on daily..probably more than once a day...it doesnt matter what she thinks the dog likes or doesnt like..its NOT HER DOG!! I dont think there will be any love loss between you too..she should have apologized not gotten defensive..what a great friend.. Dawn |

im just reading this now and cannot believe she would do that! i keep dexter in a puppy cut as my choice, but i would NEVER tell anyone that they should do it too, let alone taking it upon myself to do it for them!!!   i know dexter is not a show dog and even though i do keep him in a puppy cut, if a friend of mine decided to trim him themself i would still be fuming!! no one but you should decide what is best for your baby!!! im sorry that you lost a friendship, but it probably is best. imagine if you started showing Tucker and her jealousy kicked in then? who knows what she could have done!!! |
I don't think you are being silly about this. I would be livid if someone cut Stella's hair without my permission and I cannot imagine how I'd be. I'm so sorry but it does appear the woman as problems. Tucker's coat was beautiful and he's a cutie even with the haircut. If I cannot trust someone I certainly don't consider them a friend. |
OMG! I know a groomer from Kernersville who has that same attidude!! Your friend's name isn't Tammy is it..... I would be sooo pissed!! That was extremely controlling of her. I wonder, has she tried to control other area of your life? It's not "just hair" to me either! I remember a very bad cut given to my daughter once. It was her first haircut and it was so bad, I just cried. If my dog ever had a bad haircut I would freak too! We put so much thought and energy into grooming our yorkies that it's like losing an extension of ourselves, like they cut your hair off I think. I am soooo sorry. He really does still look cute though. BTW, my Tucker says "hewo" to your Tucker. |
If it were me, I think I'd look into pressing charges or some recourse against her. You know how I feel about using dogs to make money  but you could use this against her... honestly, she technically could have just "cost you money" by shaving your dog. You just bought him...I don't know what you paid but you obviously paid for a show/breeding dog right? Well, she just cut off his hair and ruined his chances of being shown. Also, some people don't want to buy puppies if they haven't seen pictures of the parents in full coat...so technically cutting his hair off might potentially cause you to lose puppy sales. I mean honestly, probably not... but she definitely ruined his chances of being shown if that's what you were going to do. I really think she could be held liable for some kind of monetary recourse... I know this is extreme... If it was an accident and she was honestly sorry then no I wouldn't go this far...I would still be PISSED and probably never speak to her again.. But in this case, she has no remorse and I think she knew what she was doing. I'd definitely make sure she paid for her mistake. LOL I guess you can see how pissed I am for you... |
That would make me soooooooo freaking mad!! I dont blame you for being ticked off. I cant believe she did that!:thumbdown |
I'm sure you were shocked beyond words at first. Then, I can't believe she got defensive with you. I can't even imagine someone doing that. Wouldn't want her babysitting my kids! ;) I know it's awful, but I do have to add as others did that he is just so stinkin' cute. :D |
wow, that lady's got some nerve acting all nice when she KNEW this would make you upset. I'm pissed and its not even my dog :p My dad cut my Osbourne's full length hair on his whole back end once when he was puppysitting for the day while I was at work. I was so upset, I made it VERY clear that was not ok ever again. He said he did it cuz there was some poo stuck to his bottom but your "friend" didn't even have an excuse, she just cut it to cut it. |
want me to pop knot her for ya? :D JK but don't you just feel like whacking people in the back of the head sometimes and saying WTF is your problem? here's your sign |
