| Are you in the city or out of town? We have to be VERY careful when Addy goes to the ranch with us, my girlfriend usually brings her 2 maltese. The two little white dogs just draw the preditory birds out. It is very scary and you can't let your guard down for a miniute! The playpen is a very good idea.

| Oh gosh, the hawks around here are HORRIBLE...I'm sure it's similar down in Charlotte. I don't let mine out of my sight for a second because of them...and I'm still so paranoid. |

Yes, that would be the case for BUZZARDS. Hawks will scoop up and kill living animals though - rabbits, cats, small dogs. My problem is I really can't tell them apart..... no matter how many times my husband tries to describe them to me. So if I see a big black thing circling around our property, Tatum goes inside. If it's a buzzard, oh well..... took the safe route.

| That WAS a close call. To close for comfort really. It's a good things that hawk did not come after you knowing you had it's dinner! You never know what they are capable of doing when food it involved. Please be extra careful. I see them flying everyday where we live. Buddy looks up at them and barks but there's no way they could ever get him off the ground. Beside he's always on a leash. You YT'ers with little ones, you just can't be too careful in this case. |

| Okay that is seriously scary! I can't even imagine. I'm glad you were able to grab her though and nothing bad happened. I think I would totally be getting that outdoor playpen if I were you! |

| Hawks carry off and kill chickens and rabbits all the time, so why not a small dog? I worry about this all the time. Also, don't rule out the great horned Owl or the Bald Eagle. They are even bigger than most Hawks. My Matty isn't even 3 pounds and Kalina is under 6 pounds. Even if they couldn't carry off Kalina they could do plenty of damage on the ground with their talons. Everyone please be careful!!! I'm so glad your little one is safe and sound.

| RIGHT?!?!?! I don't know if it was a predatory bird, but it was big and I wasn't taking any chances Luckily, that only lasted a few days and then it was gone, haven't seen any of them since. But I still don't ever leave them unattended out there, trouble lurks all around!

| Even with a leash on great damage can be done. If the hawk does pick the dog up when it is on a leash, what happens to the dog when the hawk reaches the end of the leash as it flies off? What damage would be done by the talons? What would happen if the hawk let go of the dog and the dog dropped back to the ground? These questions scare me so much that I am close to my furbabies at all time even when they are on-leash. Had one close call when a hawk came down within 8 ft. of Cocoa. The only thing that saved her was that our now-deceased Pommie barked and scared it.

| Thank God you were right there! I hope you can find something suitable with a lid for Lucy to play in outdoors. How scarey!
