| Dealing with pet death I don't know if you saw this on the Today Show on Friday, but I thought it was very well done. There is a story & a video - a bit different I believe http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/23165893/ I would like them to do something on how to deal with work/bosses, other people when you lose a pet - I think that should be covered in bereavement days - because I spend more time with my animals, I would likely find the loss of my furbabies, more difficult than the loss of some people within my life. ( I hope that doesn't sound crass - I think you all know what it means to dote on these little ones everyday.

| I lost two of my best friends last year, one quite unexpectedly (at 13) in January to a stroke, and my 15 year old bestest-doggy-ever in September to old age. Both losses were absolutely devastating. I'm nearly 60 years old, and in my entire lifetime, with all the many terrible things that have happened to me throughout that time, I have never asked for tranquilizers. I did when I had to put Jax down. I couldn't bear it. I was a basketcase. My two beloved Westies, 9 months apart ... if I opened my mouth, I cried. I sprung "leaks" at the most inappropriate times. When I've lost people, it didn't seem to be so unbearable. The only people who seem to understand, however, are others who have allowed total and complete entry of an animal into their heart. |

| Lee, I am so sorry for your loss and the hurt. As an adult I have lost 2 Bichons, a dog I had growing up as a child (I told everyone he followed me home - pretty sure I coaxed him ) that continued to live with my parents and just 14 mths ago my 18 yr old Siamese male -- it is so agonizing, and it is so hard for others around you to understand the pain you're in unless they have loved like that. I hope stories like the one on the Today Show help bring to light how difficult it is, so those without pets can understand

| It's amazing how much life the pups have brought into the household. We got Puddin' to keep my hubby (who's disabled) company in December. However, Yorkies appear to be as bad as potato chips: you can't have just one - so we got a little girl in late January. Two puppies: lottsa life and tusslin', chasin' and fun. Today, my 12 year old grandson (who's staying with us right now) got his birthday present: an 8 week old Westie pup to honor the memory of our beloved Jax. Now there are three - the two Yorkies flank the Westie and look like a giant Oreo cookie . My heart aches for my lost friends - I cried on the way home from the breeder's, remembering a ride home oh-so-long-ago with *another* white bundle of fur and kisses. But it's a very good thing, the life and love that these little bundles bring to our house: it's a HOME again. |

| Lee, have you posted pictures? I would love to see all 3 - that sounds like one delicious Oreo!

| The Westie's only been here for a couple of hours ... of course I didn't have the camera when they did the flanking thing ... but here are a couple others. |

| oh, they are so sweet! Hope your grandson loves his new puppy. Happy puppies do help ease the pain over losing a furbaby if the timing is right

| Yeh, he's pretty pleased. But it's fun watching the interaction between the dogs. Puddin' is about 6 months old; Bella is 4.5 months old. This li'l dude is 8 weeks today; he was the smallest in the litter, and he's not taking any guff whatsoever from the other dogs . He found the food, he found the water, he found his bed, he found the toy box and he found the piddle pad. What more could he ask for |
