| ![]() I have 2 and love it! Missy was my 1st yorkie, I got her in Sept. of 04 I love her and spoiled her so much for the 1st few months she had all my attention. I wanted another but had the same concerns you have. I brought Max home the end of Nov 04 and am so glad I did. He has made Missy so happy and filled our house with twice the yorkie love ![]() They play all day and keep eachother busy having fun, then when they need to rest they come sit on my lap or I will hold them. It works out really good, I spoil and baby both of them but when I cant they have eachother to run around with. ![]()

| ![]() I had the same doubts and questions a few months ago when I got Pixie. First off let me assure you, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having two dogs. They keep each other company, they love to play together, nothing is better than having two snuggle bugs curled up on your lap and it's great because now my husband and I each have a dog to walk. I also don't worry about leaving them home alone because they keep each other company. I really don't notice that I give one more attention than the other.. we all play together and neither seems to get jealous. Though if one is on my lap, the other wants to be up there too. I treat them the same and they get equal attention. You'll find that you'll be able to give them both the same amounts of love. It's also better to get a new dog while your first dog is still young.. they are more likely to adapt to a new puppy than an older dog will. That said, let me give you a few warnings. It can be costly having two dogs.. mine have both been sick at the same time and that was a hefty bill.. as well as being super stressful. Also, and no one likes to think about this, but having two dogs that are very close in age will also become old at the same time. But, I personally think that the pros outweigh the cons and highly recommend getting a 2nd dog. ![]()

Donating YT 14K Club Member | ![]() IMO, I wouldn't worry about getting a second one. That will give your first baby someone to play with. Sure, it will take time for Tyson to get use to it, but I think that there shouldn't be any problems at all! Let us know what you decide!

| ![]() Great post ![]() ~Also~ For those of you who have 2 . If the first one was a quiet dog, did the second encourage the 1st to be yappy? This is one if my main concerns since Tiny Baci is so awesome and quiet and only barks when someone comes to the door.

| ![]() I have two male yorkies they are a month apart in age, got Gar when he was four months and a month later got Bengie when he was almost 6 months. The first yorkie time around, I had one yorkie. Two is much easier and lots more fun. I trained them at the same time, Bengie being older learned quicker. They play, eat, sleep, fight and love each other. I would never go back to just one, in fact, I hope to add to the yorkie group by the end of the year. This time a little girl. |

| ![]() When I got Maggie, her brother was also available. I tossed it back and forth for days. Maggie would love to have a smaller playmate. I think she is getting a crick in her neck always looking up at me. Some days I kick myself for not getting her brother, and then other days it's just me and her, all cuddled up. So, if I had to do it all over--I would for sure have gotten two. Two puppies will grow up together, where an adult accepting a new puppy--may cause some jealous fights.

| ![]() My opinion is the sooner the better. I got Lacy when she was 7 wks old and didn't really think about getting another until she was about 9 months. I thought she'd be happy when I brought Cruz home, he's a yorkie/chi mix. She completely ignored me for almost a week. I brought him home when he was 6 weeks, now he's 7 months and they get along great. I couldn't have asked for better dogs. It took her about 2 weeks to get used to him being around, and probably about another week to start playing with him. Now they're inseparable. I honestly was going to give him back to the woman that I bought him from. I wouldn't have been able to get my money back, but I thought I'd rather have my Lacy back to normal. She was moping around and didn't want to play. She hardly ate anything, she was sad cuz she didn't want Cruz here. Now they eat, sleep, play and do everything together. They're happy little dogs, now I can't imagine my life without Cruz. It took a lot of getting used to for Lacy, but she's doing great now. She loves him a lot and I think she'd be sad if he wasn't around. |

Monica, Bless your heart for taking in your little niece! I can imagine you've got your hands full. She's a very lucky little girl to have a loving & kind aunt like you! I bet you're a good mommie; to both human & doggie! Marty | |

| ![]() I have 2 also. I agree that its more work but i think its better to get them earlier rather then later. Our first experience was with 2 Beagles. Maisey was 4 years old when we got Zeke he was a puppy. She basically just tolerated him. He seemed to be happy to have her around. However, she could take or leave him. I have Jack (10 weeks) and Mandy( almost 6 months) now and they are about 3 months apart and I got them about both in the same month about 1 1/2 week 2 week difference. I think it will be a different and postive experience with these 2. Because Jack was not established as being the only dog in the household for 4 years like my beagle and I think it has some to do with the breed of dog too. Jack and Mandys mom |

| ![]() I believe you said you were getting the new pup when it was just 2 months old. Is it possible to have the breeder keep the pup with the litter until at least 10 weeks? It's really important developmently. |

| ![]() I haven't had the time to read everyone else's opinions on this yet. but thought i would add my 2 cents. we got Ahia when she was 8 weeks old and Buckeye when he was about 2 years old. we had Buckeye for about almost a year when we decided we needed another yorkie. Buckeye was extremely spoiled and he didn't like the fact another dog was entering this family setting. It didn't take him long before he accepted her in the area. but.......he still wants his time with me and gets it. she gets her seperate time also. they are both jealous of those times. such as, when i have buckeye on my lap brushing, Ahia will jump up next to me and get as close as she can get standing over my arm (wanting brushed). so i brush both at the same time. LOL. they are both my babies and I love them both. dont' know what i would do without either one of them.
