Just an update...as I was waiting for a reply from Sara, Emma's owner, I got a message from a lovely YT member whose breeder has a 5 1/2 month old girl a couple of hours north of me. So, who knows. However, I am choosing to look at the bright side of this - now I have a choice between two whereas before I didn't have anything to choose from! =) |

I also wanted to say that I asked if our vet office had clients with yorkies so that I knew they were familiar with them. They have quite a few and some are breeders. That put my mind at ease. Hope this helps. |
Just saw this post...Sara seems like she's being honest. and Emma has an adorable little face. I would go meet her, and see for yourself how her enviroment is, how she acts, etc. make sure the seem healthy, not snappish, etc. also you might draw up something that states you will take her to your vet when you get home and have her checked out or ask to see her vet papers. I don't want you buying a sick little girl...(its just too heartbreaking) but she looks very healthy. Look luck and is she isnt the one, let me know. I know a few breeders from Indiana you could check with. |

To get a dog at a flea market, but get NO fleas <smile> And a healthy baby who makes you happy. What more can you ask for? I wish you many many happy healthy years ... |
I wish you the best on your search. I just wanted to post this about Petland... http://www.petstorecruelty.org/14%20Day%20guarantee.htm |
I take back what I said--worry about housebreaking later spring is not that far off. I just saw her pictures and she is soooooo adorable. I would at least go meet her and if it feels right..take her.. It is very possible mom didn't think it all thru getting a yorkie with a 2yr old. She looks healthy and I have had them with their ears down too and they are still adorable..if you are not planning on showing her or breeding her what difference does it make? It may be love at first site. I know if it were me I would have to go see...good luck.... |
wow 7 FULL pages is a lot to read lol First off, Good Luck!! At first, after reading this, I thought SCAMMER... but if she offered to get a health guarantee... not so much.. I'd still be a little weary.. just to be on the safe side. When you go see Emma (who by the way is soo adorable, ears up OR down) take a look around the house.. make sure everything's OK.. that nothing "feels" out of place. Plus, you said that another YT member PMed you about a female.. so you always have a backup. Just in case Oh and there are quite a few time that yorkie ears won't stand up unless YOU help them by taping them up... but if it doesn't bother you.. then heck with it:p I personally think it makes them look like a puppy all their lives... and I LOVE puppies:D So anyway, GOOD LUCK!! I can't wait to see how it goes! |
Just posting an update... I was in contact with another YT member who thought their breeder had a female available. She was so cute! But, it turns out that the breeder has a deposit on her, and if for any reason that didn't work out, the breeder was going to keep her. Also, I haven't heard from Sara since yesterday early afternoon. I sent her an email but no reply yet. Hopefully she hasn't changed her mind too! I don't even know if we would be going to her house, or meeting somewhere halfway. That was a question I asked in my last email to her. If Emma (whose name would be changed as soon as I got her) doesn't work out, I'm going to stop looking for awhile. It's always the same cycle with me - I look and get some really good leads on puppies and then they don't work out. It's been going on for almost a year. I think I probably was asking too much, and I either need to change what I am looking for or save up a lot more money. I do thank everyone who has read and replied to this post. YorkieTalk is the best! |

i agree you do get what you pay for. Maybe you should just save money and see if you can buy a yorkie that is worth over $1000 (from a reputable breeder), so you know that the dog is healthy. I do believe, the cheaper they are, there might be something wrong. Be patient. :aimeeyork |

I didn't pay over $800.00 for any of my Yorkies. They are all VERY healthy and with in the YT standards. Thank you.:) |
Well, fingers crossed for you, keep us posted. |

Also, here is a lead for you - another yt member has a tiny for sale. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=114151 |
I'm so sad for you, cause I sure know how you feel, but PLEASE don't give up! If you give up, then you may pass up a baby that was meant to be! Everything happens for a reason, just keep your eyes and ears open, your baby is not far away, you will have HER soon!!! I just know it! Quote:

I never paid over 400 for my yorkies..and the was a female 20yrs ago. and they all lived to be 13-16 yrs old..Shelby, well he just had some other medical problems that the other didn't and that can happen to a 5K dog..So I don't believe that you have to pay that much for a healthy yorkie. Just keep you eye and ears open. If I hear of any I will surely let you know. Cause I am looking as well...:animal36 |
2 Attachment(s) Thanks again to everyone for your kind words and encouragement. After having the potential deal fall apart yesterday, and not hearing from Sara in that last day or so (she was emailing me back within a few hours) I'm pretty bummed. I know - patience, patience. But I have been trying to get a yorkie for almost a year and my patience is thin. Especially working from home now, it can get lonely during the day. I am considering Twinkie again. I know she's not a yorkie, but she's small and uber cute and ultra fluffy. Perhaps I was not meant to have a yorkie? I have attached 2 pics of twinkie. =) I really just want a small dog that I can spoil and love. |

Hi haa, Yup I did call Sara, just got her VM and left a message. Don't get me wrong, I think poms are cute too! I tried to take my cat with me on an outing today, she was not having it LOL. I just ran to the Post Office and she was a good girl on the way there, but when we pulled into the driveway she started hissing. Perhaps she wanted to drive around a bit longer? LOL (just kidding, she was prolly po'd that I made her go out) |

OP I would wait for the Yorkie.. |
I agree with myfairlacy.. From everything you have written your heart is set on a yorkie. I feel the same way, I am lonely since I lost my little Shelby. I want a little furbaby to curl up with on these cold dreary days. But I know I will not be perfectly satisfied without another yorkie. I would still love and protect any other breed but my heart would not be happy. So I am trying very hard to be patient. Look into your heart and really ask yourself if you will be happy with this pom. Could you ever look at another yorkie and not regret not waiting. I believe God has a special little angel just for you but for some reason it's not time. Maybe this is His way of teaching us patience(however in my book His sense of humor is lost to me on this)...Just remember you're not alone. Maybe until one comes along you could be a foster mom. Have you looked into that? :) |
Price I don't think that you are asking to much at all, not everyone can afford to pay over $1000.00 for a yorkie but that doesn't mean that you have to deprive yourself of having what you want. I paid $550.00 US for Remington and he is as healthy as can be, you really just have to be patient. Quote:
