Now I hope they deal appropriately with the owner. We had something similar happen in TN. Over 100 dogs were rescued from a similarly deplorable situation. Some of the dogs died. Some had to be put down because they were so diseased from lack of care!!!

After the owner went to court, about 10 animals were returned to her! Her reasoning was the courts were taking away her livelihood!

I hope the courts in Indiana send the message that this kind of livelihood will not be tolerated!!!

OMG that is HORRIBLE! How in the world could they give them back to her!!!!!!!!!! If they don't throw her but in jail and let her have any back i will personally go to her trailer and take them out myself and i am not going to let anyone stop me

Thank you for the link to the story - but I about split a gut when I read: “I understand their (the animal rights activists) motives, and we had already logged the problem and were looking into the complaints,” Richardson said. “This is going to send a clear message to anybody around Mitchell that the Mitchell Police Department is not going to sit idly by while they neglect or abuse animals.”

It sounds like from everything you said this dept. was not acting & then they wanted the rescuers to wait until Monday. Boy this guy is trying to make himself & the department look good! - How big is Mitchell?

Did you tell your brother about the 2 yorkie pups? Thank good you were educated and didn't go in there and buy one.

Praying she doesn't get these dogs back!

yeah reading that made me sick he is only trying to make himself look good and what gets me is that he tried to tell petite paws that this is the first time that it had ever been brought to his attention and that is Melissa from the humane society stepped in and said THAT IS NOT TRUE! she said i have turned over reports to you numerous times. She said he kind of shrugged it off and went on to talking And yes he did he kept telling them that he would get a warrant Monday if it hadn't been for them (indian petite paws rescue)sitting there at the town hall for hours demanding something be done then i doubt the mitchell police dept. would have done a thing about it once again

Now that it is out in the news i seriously doubt she will get them back because i have a feeling there will be many people (ones who turned her in and other community people) there fighting against her

I just checked Petite Paws Rescue website - but I guess it's too early for them to have something up about the rescue. They have a really nice website that I'm going to go spend some time on http://www.petitepaws.org/

They have things for sale, ebay store, etc - I want to do something to help their efforts

I didn't know that they put things up about the rescue that is awesome! I am going to have to keep a eye about that.

Thanks, Mary. I actually know her and, unfortunately, this is not
really a surprise to me.

You don't have to worry, I would never "tell on you". If this ever
happens again and you'd like a bit of "publicity" around Mitchell,
feel free to let me know (especially if you were to stage another
"raid" on City Hall!). I don't know if you've been to my website
before or not, but I'll post things that the newspaper cannot or will
not, and I have a tendency to get the attention of the Mitchell Police
Department.

Congratulations on getting her shut down. There are many of us dog
lovers who commend you for a wonderful job!

If you look at the website www.tmnews.com and go down to the story where it says comments i have been stepping up telling and i sent that full details of what happened so i gave him all of them and now i am hoping he will post it on the Mitchell News site I am actually shocked at how many on there are sticking up for the MPD

I just learned that this woman did have a kennel license HOW did she get it don't they have to check them out first?

Also here is a little update on the puppies that was posted on tmnews

kudos to the local whistleblowers, the animal activists from out of town, the wrhs, and the mpd. and for mike61, I just returned from wrhs to help the overworked employees who are trying to tend to these new arrivals plus the already housed dogs and cats at the shelter. The animals seized last nite are being fed and sheltered in a warm buliding with room to run and play. The director of wrhs has the sick and possibly dying pups taken from the residence and has spent all nite bottle feeding and tending to these pups which still might not survive. The animals at the shelter are matted, dirty and have fleas and lice. To let an animal live with such conditions and ailments is abuse plain and simple.If you allowed a child to live in such conditions you would be arrested for child abuse. No difference.

YOU ARE A HERO!!! It is nice to see someone who is willing to put these people out of business, your town should be proud of you!! the ones who are complaining and sticking up for the police, maybe you should give them the address and they can go over and smell the place and look at the conditions and if they have any heart at all they will change their mind on if this was a puppymill or not.

I can't believe how some people are defending this woman on the newspapers website -- probably other puppy mill owners
