| I would def. recommend getting an xpen. It's made life with a puppy sooo much easier! He still goes in his crate at night. I feel safer that way knowing that he absolutely can't get into anything LOL! Puppies are crazy! The crate stays by our bed at night and during the day he goes in his xpen unless we leave the house without him and then he goes back in his crate (usually not for more than a couple of hours) The xpen is in the kitchen which is a very common room in the house, so he is confined without being away from us but still in an open area that he can play in. I put a puppy pad in one corner and his food, water, toys and open crate in another corner. Recentley, I've been able to take the pad up because he is doing better with pottying outside. Also, I read that other people on here will put a peice of lenolium flooring under the xpen if it has to be on carpet. Good Luck with your new puppy! |

| Just remember that having a puppy takes lots of patience. Potty training can be difficult sometimes. Sometimes they bite an chew, eat their pop, cry at bedtime and a whole host of other things. It just takes love and patience and training.

| welcome to YT! my suggestion is to buy a good digital camera with a large memory card because for the first few weeks all you will want to do is take pictures of the little baby! lol. dexter is now 6 months and i am still constantly taking pictures and videos. cant get enough of him! but seriously, be patient and remember that it will be a baby...they dont know that peeing on the rug makes you upset, they dont know that the poop that tasts `good` makes their puppy kisses smell bad and they dont know that you have to get up early for work tomorrow so should stop their crying. no one would yell at or smack a human infant who peed on the floor or was crying at night and a puppy deservs the same treatment! good luck with your new baby and post pictures here often! |
