If you and I got off on the wrong foot I do apologize but as you can tell I'm very passionate. I am so dedicated to the yorkie breed and I just can't stand where the breed is going. If I did offend you I do apologize but I hope you understand with the health issues from unethical breeders where it be in a person that just does it for a hobby or that of a show breeder. I'm just as passionate against a show breeder that is doing it for the wrong reasons also! I have enough family that wants one of mine when they retire so probably will put with family but I haven't had to make that decision yet. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers

I've heard this before that breeders rehome their females when they stop breeding them. I would really like to hear from the breeders if this is true. If it is true then I'm really bothered by some of the statements. If you do it for the love of the breed and not for money and the dogs live in your home and are part of the family how on earth can you just give them away? I hear comments on how hard it is to even let the puppies go, I can't imagine giving the mommas away. So to the breeders, is this true?

MyFairLacy, this is not directed to you- I was too lazy to go back and find Tammy's post.

You have to realize that we as show breeders would be over run and end up looking like a puppy mill if we kept everything we showed and then bred. Now mind you I have kept the ones I've retired from showing and they will live with me forever but I have 8 yorkies now and if I continue to breed and keep everything I show and then breed it wouldn't be fair to them to keep having more and more dogs and run the risk of having them in unhealthy condions. I only have maybe one litter a year. It's hard for me to let go of a puppy and I can't imagine letting go of a female or male but it may have to come to that one day but it will be what's in the best for my dog. And that's to be in a loving home but I"m hoping it will never come to that. And if it were to come to that at some point I would make no money because they would be placed with a family member or someone that is wanting an older yorkie "FREE" of charge ![]() But with that said I really prefer to show than breed and my goal is to show yorkies for other people one day. I hope that made sense. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers

| Thanks for sharing that...Because I really lose a lot of respect for some of these so called reputable breeders that breed and breed and make money, and when it's all said and done, and the bitch is no longer breedable, then, they go to a new forever home...That shows where these people are out for money, so thanks for clearing that up.. |

| I don't know enough about breeding/breeders to be knowledgeable in these discussions you all have, but I like to think everyone here tries to do their best and loves their pups. |
