| I think that you didn't realize how different it is training these smaller breeds. I've never had a yorkie till my two, and the labs and shelties I've had were def. easier. During the early training of both my yorkies, I honestly took them out every 20 minutes or so and made a really big deal when they went. For accidents, you have to be watching constantly when they are so young... and I would say AAA! when I caught them, but not really yell or get mad. I don't think you are taking him out often enough...at 12 weeks, they are little peeing machines. hang in there...it will get easier! |

| OMG ... you sound like the one Lady on here a while ago. .... he is 12 weeks old. A Baby doesn't know how to go POTTY until they get TRAINED to do so. Same thing with the dog. Why did you get a Dog if you don't have the Pations to train him ????

| Sometimes I read this threads and get very upset ..............First of, you know NO puppy wether is a yorkie or pitbull is going to be potty trained at 12 weeks......................Enjoy your puppy because you "sound" very mad ........... I dont want to judge you but you sound aggressive .................Take a few deep breaths and "learn" what is best for your yorkie. I had 3 baby yorkies at one time and they had accidents but I had alot of patience...........When their new mommys came to get them I made sure I told them that they were NOT fully potty trained but if they were persistent and patienced with them they would be soon.................Dont you know he has a small bladder??

Hear is a cute thing that I read in The Complete Idiots Guide to Positive Dog Training, " If he does mess in the house, grab the nearest newspaper, roll it up, and HIT YOURSELF over the head while chanting, "I forgot to watch my dog, I forgot to watch my dog", If your dog laughs, praise him!"

| You have come to the right place for help. Every one of us have been in your shoes. It is not easy to potty train a Yorkie, but if you know that going in... you will be successful. Do you want him to be potty pad trained or outside trained? I think it is very important in the begining to stick to only one spot, where they are allowed to go potty. It also has to be close by. They are so little, some times just crossing a big room is to far away. Do you have a place in your house with out carpet? Where you could gate it off. Do you work? Is someone home with him during the day? Potty training is a full time job and so very important!! Puppies have to go when they wake up, a few minutes after they eat, and after a few minutes of play. Does he have a crate? What do you do with him at night time. **When I brought home my little guy at 10 weeks, I blocked off the family room: which has hardwood floors and rolled up the area rug. I liturally sat on the floor and watched him like a hawk. I did this for about 4 days!! Waiting for him to have to go pee. He would run around like a 'crazy puppy' in a circle...like he was looking for a spot. Then I would pick him up and placed him on the potty pad. If he went, we would praise him "good potty" and give him a treat Everytime! He is now 6 months old and he still looks at us for the treat! Never scold them for accidents at this age...they are to little...just a firm ah,ah,ah. As he got better we expanded his area a little. If he had an accident we would go back to the beginning again. After our little one had the idea of potty training. I kept him with me on a leash, while I did my chores around the house. I would hang his leash on the door knob of what ever room I was in, with a potty pad near by. I still do not trust him to have complete freedom of the house. But, here are certain rooms that I trust him in. Remember potty training takes lots of time and patience. If you are stressed your puppy with know. I hope these ideas help. .... we make Maya go outside too. She is 10 months now and still has an accident every once in a while. You are right though it is worth it ! And it is not her fault, she lets me know when she has to go .... runs around like crazy sniffing the floor .... thats one of her things and standing by the door and bakring at me looking toward the door. Maybe you need to watch your Puppy and see what he/she does befor they have to go.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I know it can be frustrating at times... but all I can say is PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE. We all went through that... it takes some time and consistency and a lot depends on... you! He'll get the hang of it, he's still too young. |

.... Question for you ..... what do you do with the Pee Pads ??? Maya is trained ( well 90 %) to go outside, but when it is tooo cold or raining she pees infront of the door. How do you do that ..... do you think I can still train her ( 10 months) to do that too ???? See, if we leave she will hold it until we get back ....
