| For those who remember me and my saga with "Myles" a while back...HAPPY ENDING Hello Everyone: Just thought I would come back and update you on the karmic activity surrounding poor little Myles (or Max, as his owner CALLED him-note the past tense). My good friend and neighbor mentioned to me the other day that her friend a few houses down had found a small black and tan dog, a Yorkie. I was stunned. It appears that Max/Myles got out again, and was wandering the neighborhood. Except this time, when he was found, he had been shaved in random places along his side (I think for mats, friend thinks kids did it for "fun"), the rest of him was matted up, and he was very dirty. This evening, the folks that found him stopped by, and I had a long chat with them. It appears they are treating him like a king, and their kids (two boys and a toddler) have become very close to him. The mother described how filthy he was, and matted badly (they are going to take him to the groomers next week). It appears that they put him outside to see if he would lead them to his home, and he refused to leave the front porch. So back in he came, and there he has stayed, for the past four days. So guess what I was able to do? PULL OUT ALL THE THINGS I HAD GOTTEN FOR MYLES/MAX, AND DONATE IT TO THEM. They were so happy and pleased to get some "accessories" (new bed, snuggle toy, harness and leash, food, coat, etc...) that the kids' eyes were bugging out of their head. Thanks to all of your sound advice, I was able to stress the importance of the harness for walks. Boy, do I feel good right now. Thank goodness I hung onto that stuff. But...I know where he belongs. So I am feeling a bit guilty right now. Yes, no "lost dog" fliers have gone up, no one seems to be looking for him, and he appears happy where he is. So, unlike last time, I AM NOT GOING TO SAY A WORD OR INTERVENE. Some of you might think this wrong, but if he was in the shape he was in this time (worse than when I found him back in November), then I am making the judgment call that he is better off where he is, with a seemingly loving family who dotes on him. I just feel bad that I sent him back to a place where he might have been loved, but obviously was not taken care of, and possibly abused. But hindsight is 20/20. By the way, the new family has named him "Lucky"-and I think that is more than appropriate. |

| Hi Matthew and Welcome back to YT. I do remember your story. The woman was not very appreciative towards you when you returned Myles(Max) and was actually very nasty....nor do I remember her showing any excited emotion towards Max...I mean if I would have lost my dog & someone was nice enough to first, take obvious good care of him, then think enough of how much I missed them and return them, I would not only be planting kisses on my furbabies, I would probably kiss the person who returned them too!! So fast-forward til today....not sure what to say....I mean it doesn't sound the Max is too happy at home..maybe he's purposely running away, who knows. And he was is such a messy condition, I'm assuming either she doesn't have time or doesn't spend much time with him. You haven't seen any fliers or advertisements for missing dog? I would say just go with your gut...I would hate to think he has to go back where he's obviously not cared for properly. I really don't know what the right thing to do in this situation but if she really wanted her dog back, she would do what you did and post fliers or something. I hope wherever he is, he's loved and appreciated and given the care he deserves...and how nice of you to give them the things you bought. I thought maybe you'd considered getting a baby for yourself..you sound like a wonderful care-giver to any furbaby you get! I wish you the best of luck. Please give us an update should anything come about in this situation.

| Thanks, Luvmy... Well, with having had recent vet bills since Myles stay with me (Both dog and cats) that were unexpected, I think I will wait until I am done with school and financially stable before I take on another responsibility. But I am pleased with the outcome of this, despite a few pangs of guilt. What goes around comes around, I guess... Matthew |

| I'd missed your story the first time around...so I just sat here and read the whole thing...and was in tears by the end. I'm happy that Miles is in a better place.

| I am with you all the way. What if you gave him back to the woman and he wasn't so "Lucky" next time and got hit by a car. Think how awful you would feel then. Way to go Matthew. You will make a wonderful daddy someday to a little furbaby.

| I read most of your previous story and I totally agree with you not saying you know who the owner is. Not because she was rude and nasty, but how many of us have had our yorkies get out several times? I just don't think so!! (although I will say my dogs are neither microchipped nor do they wear collars because I am afraid they will get hung up on something and suffocate); but I am also extremely careful with my dogs to make sure they don't get out. He will be in a better home now; too bad you couldn't keep him! That was an awesome story!
