| Joey barks at me... Whenever I stop paying attention to him for one second - especially when I try to log on to YT! He hates when I sit down in front of the computer. When I tell him NO! he keeps at it....I have to stop what I'm doing so he'll stop barking (I live in an apt complex and am worried that the barking is going to disturb the neighbors...otherwise I would attempt to ignore him a bit longer). How do I get my little guy to stop yapping so much? My parents suggested using a newspaper to hit my own hand so it scares him a little....they swear by this technique. I welcome any ideas! |

| try bitterapple or a squirt bottle. Bitterapple worked for my Remmy when he wouldn't stop barking. |

| You can fill a jar up with change and rattle it at him when he barks.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Sounds like he's just got an excess of energy. Any way to give him more, regular exercise? I play with Eddie outside for 15-20 minutes twice a day. It's still not enough, but it does seem to keep him from barking every time I sit down. Also, make sure he has plenty of toys and chew bones to occupy him.

| You're right about the energy...I try everything I can to tire him out. Maybe it's just a puppy thing and he'll grow out of it ? |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | How old is your little guy? Eddie is 14 months, and he did the bark thing for most of his first year. He's been better this summer, but that may be because of the increased exercise.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That's my feeling. I hate to punish a dog for wanting to play. There's got to be a level of exercise you can give him that satisfies him. Then again, as I sit here spewing advice, Eddie is right here chewing on a bone and walking over to me every now and then wanting me to throw it for him. At least he's not barking! Good luck. It will get better as he ages.

| There are two times when Chloe barks at me. If I am on YT too much and when she wants me to play. A few minutes ago she did this, so I got her ball and played and then came back to YT. Obviously not enough, she's barking now. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | sounds like tucker. when he barks we tell him no really loud. then he thinks its a contest to see who can 'bark' louder! lol. try either a squirt bottel. we had that but tucker tries to drink out of it and sometimes he lunges at it. or you can get a jar of pennies. whenever he barks shake it. but if you live in an apartment complex it might be too loud..... i'm not sure. good luck!

| Sounds like Joey needs a playmate. Is there another yorkie or a kitten in your plans? |

| Is this something new? I know Joey was through a very traumatic experience and then you had to go away. Maybe it's just him feeling a need for extra TLC? I know you live in an apartment but if you stop what you're doing every time he barks at you it will train him to bark for attention. Can you put him in a time out area and ignore him? (Or does that wake up the whole neighborhood?) I know he's tiny, maybe he can lay on your lap or computer table so that you can at least be on YT. Good luck.

| They say you can get an empty soda can, and put 2-3 pennies in the can...tape the top and when the puppy barks shake the can...I have never tried this, but I have heard it works in getting the puppy to stop barking Good Luck!! Fran and Sammi
