| What I don't understand is, why suddenly does the YTCA seem to be the scapegoat for everything? Seems like lately whenever someone's breeding tactics are questioned or some practice is deemed unethical....it ends up getting twisted and misconstrued and then the next thing you know--BAM! It's all because of the YTCA and something they did!I don't get it...!? Why not blame El Nino for some of this crap...it would make about as much sense..... |

I know you are a big girl and can handle yourself. I just think at some point people have to make their own decisions on what they feel is reputable. No one can answer that for them. Nothing is black and white in the dog world, that is for sure.

| Me too, Donna. The only reason I haven't posted is because I was so angry I wouldn't allow myself to type. Didn't want to say anything I "wouldn't" regret...lol I think everyone can see where this is coming from and just consider the source. We all know who the reputable, ethical breeders and show breeders are and the passion each share about doing things the correct way to protect this beautiful breed.

| If you recall...when 101 Dalmations came out....how popular that breed became......and so many ended up in rescue.....This was why I cringed when the Yorkie became the # 2 breed in the country.

I've only read the last half of this thread, but this statement stands out. It is sooo true.

Then you state that Yorkies were10-12 lbs. and By 1900, fanciers on both sides of the Atlantic had decided that the small size was preferable and made a concerted effort to breed a smaller Yorkie with even longer coat. I am sorry but you can't have it both ways. And when you use quotes make sure who ever you quote knows what they are talking about. The breed standard stipulates that Yorkies must not be over 7 pounds and, on average, adult Yorkies fall between a petite 5–7 pounds. The Breed Standard is Weight Must not exceed seven pounds. | |||
