I'm glad you said that - Some prices we've seen are outrageous but this thread is getting SO many views that for people new to yorkies & looking for a PET - this is a good post. So many are getting taken advantage of and I'm NOT talking about anyone in particular - we can all see this by searching the net and seeing the $$$$$ these days. anyway - I was feeling left out and thought I'd throw in 2 cents...

You live in Texas and prices vary from region to region; with both coasts being more expensive. However, a couple of people on YT have been pleasantly surprised with the adoption fees when they've purchased their furbutts from show breeders.

Well would I even speak to that person, NOT.....and I think you know me well enough to know that who I would recommend would have to be of the highest standard.

I didn't mean to take this Off Topic - just wanted to comment to Mystica's post from a buyers standpoint....there's people that will always think if they pay more it has to be better - which in life we know isn't always the case. I'm speaking in General Terms regarding any breeder/seller. There are always going to be higher priced yorkies - but some of the prices I've seen on the net are WAY way out there - not meaning 'show' people - just in general - I really wasn't going to comment in this thread but it was just so....um....viewed ?

| I wasn't going to comment in this thread but I couldn't help think of the breeder I got my first yorkie from in early 2005.... I wanted to go back to her for my second one, but since then her yorkies have shrunk and her prices have grown....She used to have yorkies in the 5-7lb. range but I'm seeing more of them on her site being advertised in the 2-4lb range and the prices have more than doubled... I won't put out that kind of money for a pet.....I was a little disappointed to see this....I can't help but wonder if the tiny=$$$ was the motivation.....

| Unfortunately, there are always those that will breed for the money, instead of to better the breed. They want unreturnable deposits, mucha bucks for the tiny little dog they have, not caring if it goes into a home where there may be childred that are very rough with little dogs, and the dog may end up with broken bones, or even worse. Once the dog is gone from their homes, they never inquire about it or care about it again. A few years down the road, they don't even know where it is, or if it is alive, healthy, in a shelter, or being abused. All they care about is that they got all that $$$$$$ for that precious little creature. |

| I guess I am confused somewhat, I have just read this entire thread and here at the end I find myself wondering what reputable actually means. Is it just about breeding tinies? Or is it about selling tinies? When I think of someone as being Reputable I think of someone standing behind the product that they are selling. When I think of ethical, thats when I consider if it is morally right by my standards. I dont want to cause any waves here but I have just read about reputable, ethical, breeders having an occasional tiny and letting it grow up or get so old and then selling them to a qualified buyer that knows about tinies. Well it seems to me that if a breeder being a show person or a kennel or whatever has such strong opinions about someone else selling tiny dogs why then when they have an occasional tiny do they sell it???? What makes it right for them. I am just wondering, this thread is very confusing on this issue. As far as price, this breed is all over the place on that point. If you go on any of the sites you can pay 2500.00 up and the breeder may not even have a pedagree or know what lines they actually have. |

| You are correct in that a good breeder will stand behind their dog, and in the event the new owner finds that they can not keep that dog, a good breeder will purchase the dog back and either keep it, or find another good home for it. As for me, I never advertised my little one for sale, in fact I had intended on keeping her, but when someone inquired about her, and wanted her very badly, and my tiny seemed to be so comfortable and happy with the person, I agreeded to sell her. Because I feel that it takes a special sort of person to provide a home for a tiny, I never advertise them when I do happen to have one. I would rather they stay with me, than to end up in a place where they may be hurt, or not cared for properly. |

| Looks like the OP got scared off, or cats got her tongue. I checked out her website a while back...found it doing a breeder search. Nice looking dogs but the prices and wording on her website made me think unreputable. How can you be a long time breeder and not even know what YTCA is and then keep changing your story. Seems when actual breeders reply to her she comes up with more excuses and smoke and mirrors. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it must be about the $$$$ signs. I just hope most will realize the prices alone should be a red flag. There was another poster on that other thread who got a sick 8 plus pounder from her that was brokered. I hope she submits a breeder review. JMO |

| I wasnt trying to single anyone out, I am new and some of this talk just wasnt adding up to me. I am just trying to understand the jest of the whole thing. I would hope that anyone selling any dog would do everything in their power to make sure that they were going to a loving home that would make them members of their family. |

| Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | that was me and wanna hear something ironic? Sierrareef had a post and I pmd him about my puppies, Im not a breeder, I just love my dogs, but hope someday after retirement to breed and show. Anyway, he called me and he was doing his homework, because of almost getting takin in by a broker, he liked the pics I sent him but he wanted me to give him a guarantee of no genetic diseases. I told him I was really uncomfortable doing that, since I am not a breeder, so when my puppies do sell that money goes into the vet costs and puppy pads etc, its gone, but I would give him in writing my word that mine were healthy and he could contact my vet and ask anything he wanted. (we are not talking about the 8lber by the way, hes fixed). Anyway he wanted a contract. I told him I completely understood and wished him well. Well he just posted, one of "N" friends recommended her, and low and behold he bought one, getting her flown out Friday. Just thought Id let you know all this publicity worked.....anyway I wish him the best with his new baby. L |
