| A sibling for Tucker - Maltese? We are thinking about getting a little sibling for Tucker. I'd like a female this time around because I really love all the clothes you can get for little girls. We went and met an adorable baby Maltese yesterday. She won't be ready to go to a new home until mid to late February. Do any of you have Malteses? Do they tend to get along well with Yorkies? Tucker is 16 months old - is this a good time to increase our family size? Thanks a bunch, Julie |

| We got Bella, our maltese, when Benji was about 1 year old. I was nervous and first at how he would adjust but they did great. Bella actually calmed Benji down a little bit. They play great together and loving having eachother around. I think the maltese and yorkie breed are great combined.

| I got my maltese when Miko was almost 3 yrs old and the maltese was 7 months old, and they did great!! It may take some time for your yorkie to adjust (weeks to a couple of months), but I'm pretty sure they will do great together. Maltese and yorkies complement each other very nicely. I love both of my babies!!

| I have 3 maltese and 4 yorkies and they have all gotten along splendidly!! I find that the maltese are extremely loving and loyal. If you like to be followed from room to room all day than this is the breed for you! |

| One day I plan to buy a maltese too. In fact, I just joined a maltese forum last night I've seen many people with both and they compliment each other well

| Malteses My boyfriend had six Malteses and a Yorkie, and they got along fine. He still has three Malteses and they are quite docile, much more of a lap dog than a Yorkie, and less feisty and independent. In fact, I liked them so much - and I was not a dog person - that I would have liked one. I took care of them at my home whenever he was away..Instead he got me a Yorkie...I can't imagine life without the Yorkie now...but the Malteses are sweet-natured things. My Yorkie does not get along as well with his Malteses only because he is insanely jealous if I show them attention. When I am ignoring them he wants to play with them, and two of them (the third is a real Alpha Dog and gives him no time of day) would, except that he's frightened them by going after them when I held them. We're working on it - he's getting better! |
