My boyfriend had six Malteses and a Yorkie, and they got along fine.

He still has three Malteses and they are quite docile, much more of a lap dog than a Yorkie, and less feisty and independent. In fact, I liked them so much - and I was not a dog person - that I would have liked one. I took care of them at my home whenever he was away..Instead he got me a Yorkie...I can't imagine life without the Yorkie now...but the Malteses are sweet-natured things.

My Yorkie does not get along as well with his Malteses only because he is insanely jealous if I show them attention. When I am ignoring them he wants to play with them, and two of them (the third is a real Alpha Dog and gives him no time of day) would, except that he's frightened them by going after them when I held them. We're working on it - he's getting better!
