| Need Advice Need Advice -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I need some advice.. I put Rudy in kitchen and let him have run of it.. no destruction but peed and pooped no where close to where he should.. so i am thinking he needs less space .. he has been in playpen and went in litter box every time.. so thinking i should gate off smaller area in kitchen and slowly give him more space.. What i have in kitchen is food water bed toys and litter box.. should i put some pee pads around the litter box ? Also should I have his kennel there too for him to go into if he wants.. any advice would be appreciated..I really want to get him out of playpen .. Thanks so much

| Do you have the area in the kitchen gated off? Or do you have an Xpen? I think you're right about the smaller area. That might work. Are you rewarding him when he goes on the pad? I mean REWARD...halleluhia chorus...big band...treats? That is working for us. Gizmo even has a little dance he does when we haven't noticed that he's used the pad! LOL!

| We found ours for like $65 at Petco. I really like it. It was a Christmas present to each other. Actually, we bought two so that we can put them together for an outside play area when the weather gets better. I also read about this, but haven't seen it mentioned much here on YT. When Gizmo was just out of the playpen, I would tether him to me. He was able to stay close to me and not wander off. I was able to keep a closer eye on him too. It made it easier to pick him up in a hurry to take him to a pad. Of course I used a harness and attached a leash to it.

| If you don't have an x-pen, I would definitely close off a smaller area. I WOULD put his kennel in with him. They feel safe in them and it helps to define the area for him so he knows where to sleep, where to eat, and where to go potty.
