We found ours for like $65 at Petco. I really like it. It was a Christmas present to each other. Actually, we bought two so that we can put them together for an outside play area when the weather gets better.
I also read about this, but haven't seen it mentioned much here on YT. When Gizmo was just out of the playpen, I would tether him to me. He was able to stay close to me and not wander off. I was able to keep a closer eye on him too. It made it easier to pick him up in a hurry to take him to a pad. Of course I used a harness and attached a leash to it.
