Yes I did join to make a comment regarding the 5200 dogs. I'm indeed looking for a yorkie pup and my jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw the amount of dogs you mentioned...The number sounds fabricated and outrageously high. If that is so where did this number originate from out of curiousity and why was it never reported to authorities. Its just common sense. Im not here to defend anyone but whether someone buys from the pet store, breeder, kiiijii is their choice as long as the person who purchases the pet is completely happy and the pet has a happy and healthy life. Obviously people are willing to pay the prices these people have set ~ so be it. How they choose to operate is their business as long as its not inhumane ~Where would these dogs end up if they didn't go to a good home? If they are indeed a puppy mill operation the ones that have been purchased were saved were they not?

I have adopted a staffordshire bull terriers in which the breeder felt she was "too old" to breed- I also have a yorkie who thinks she's a great dane and Im looking for another to company the yorkie. I have a great pyrenese and two. Will I be kicked off for having alot of dogs/cats different breeds? No offense just my 2 cents. I don't breed but I love animals...

She wasnt kicked off. She left. She tried to sell tiny yorkies for like 10 k and people really didnt take a liking to her and posted so. If you want to support a puppy mill thats your buisness. I support reputable breeders where puppies arent kept in a kennel and mass produced. Buying from someone like her is no different than buying from a pet store

ok so back to my original question ~ why weren't authorities notified of this so called puppy mill? I'd love to see the article because that is big news to have 5200 dogs.

The original post was made in 2007, and the breeder in question was on another continent. It may very well be difficult for anybody to post documentation now.

People will still continue to buy from pet stores ~ and people will still continue to buy from this lady at westcoast ~ whether she charges 10 k or not there will be people who will be willing to spend the money. The breeder that I adopted my stafford from is also a reputable breeder in Alberta but his theory or ridding his dog because she was too old is $$$$$$$$$$$$ ~ I'm sure this happens all the time. The key word in this thread is "allegelly" so far no one has any proof ~ I can't imagine where one would hold 5200 dogs and imagine how much land you would need and surprising that many animals would produce quite the noise factor where no one has heard to make a complaint...sorry I still don't buy into it ~ I checked out her site and I don't see anything wrong with it.

If you feel so strong about this breeder you should contact the local sheriff office and file a complaint. We have a nutcase around here that we wil continue to watch. Good Luck to you and Welcome to YT.

Uneducated buyers may continue to buy from pet stores and puppy mills but Im not going to encourage it

Well let me ask, how do you know they have so many dogs. You can still file a complaint and have the sheriff investigate.

I agree with you there ~ a number of 5200 dogs is insanely large for anyone to operate and just sit and not do anything about it. Why wasn't it reported? There are uneducated buyers all over the place ~ not just with animals. When you have your heart and mind set ~ a dollar value and reputation may not mean a thing (just my opinion - speaking for myself only)...
