| I hope Im cut out for this. We just got our little girl yesterday, she is doing great. But this is also my first animal in the house (I am 30) and I just dont know if Im doing everything right. I am not sure is shes eating or drinking enough, or if she sleeping to much. Getting this puppy was not a spur of the moment decision I thought about this for several months. I am also worried about leaving it when I go shopping. etc.. I only work a couple of hours a day but we are pretty busy people. I am so paranoid, I am warring myself sick, have I made a wrong decision? Please dont bash me I just need some advice. |

| I think you being here at YT is an awesome helping hand. Most, if not all, of your questions you have are here or can be asked here. I am still the same way with Parker and I have had him for almost 2 months. You need to give yourself a break, keep yourself educated about your baby, and give LOTS of love. If you ever have a question shoot me a PM and I'll try and help you to the best of my ability. There are many wonderful educated people here at YT that has an answer to pretty much any questions, so you are in good hands! But don't stress yourself out too much have fun, your supposed to enjoy being a new mom! And Congrats on your new baby, you are going to be asked a million times to post some pics!! Cause we are all going to want to see |

| i felt the SAME way when i got Layla.. what have i done!!!! i was so worried i was doing everything wrong... but 1) PUPPIES SLEEP a lot!! so dont' worry if you think she is sleepign too much... they sleep and play... so as long as she plays hard and sleeps hard... she's doing great 2) puppies have days where they will eat a lot and days where they will not be so hungry.. just make sure she is not lethargic... and you are doing ok! check her gums..they should be pink.. not white... if they are white...try giving her a bit of honey or osmething to up her blood sugar... if you are crating her a night.. she WILL cry for a few nights... that's normal... give her the option to go out and pee... if when you put her back in she cries... let her cry it out... she will learn to love her crate (I have to DRAG Layla out of it in the morning) it is COMPLETELY normal to worry.. we've all be there.. but now you are HERE and there are SO many people on here that can help with EVERYTHING welcome! |

| OH and if you are worried about leaving her. Buy a dog purse. you can get them at PetSmart or Petco... we bring layla in the mall all the time in her carrier and no one even knows we have her there. if you start her young she will get used to it and just sleep like Layla does. At first you might have to feed her treats through the top to let her know sh eis being good.. but now i just open it and Lay hops right in! |

| Getting a puppy for the first time at any age can be overwhelming. Especially a yorkie. Be consistent with training is the best advice I can give you. Let the baby sleep in a crate at night. Once trained completely then you can let her sleep where you want. But crate training is the easiest route to take. If you are really consistent about taking that baby outside to potty..you will be ok..but many can be out side a long time, then come inside to potty in the house. Praise big time when potty is done in the right place. Treats work great, giving treats only on those times also helps. If you cannot be home, Do Not leave the puppy free in the house, they can get into so much trouble and possible harm. I would put her in an xpen when I cannot be there with a pp pad, water and food. Then when you are not home you do not have to worry about safety. Hope this helps. Pooh's mum |

| You need to give both of you some time to bond. There will be an adjustment period, she is away from her mom and siblings. She is a bit scared, new environment, new smells. It is normal to worry about her. When is your vet check? Have a list of things to ask your vet, about shots, spaying etc and ask here. Most YT'ers are very friendly and will answer your questions and tell you their experiences. I have an xpen for my two girls that I open up and use as a gate in my kitchen/laundry room area. Best investment I made for them. Since she is young just use it as a playpen area with bed, toys, food/water and pee pad. Gives her a place to play, sleep and be safe and not be cooped up all day. Having a pet is a responsibility, but the rewards are so worth it. Good Luck and post pictures soon!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | What you are feeling is perfectly normal. Pet ownership is a big responsibility but the pay off is unbelievable. In a few months you will wonder how you lived without her. I am retired now but when I was working I always had a Yorkie and they do just fine as long as they get attention when you are home. Just come here when you start stressing out and we will talk you through it!!

| Thanks everyone for all you support. She is doing fine I have her room fixed in my bathroom, its just a closet that was not being used with plenty of room for all her stuff. She has not cried at night at all, she starts a little at 5 in the morning but not for very long I think she just wants to play. Im still having mixed emotions. One reason is Im a major clean freak and Im not sure I can make this work. |

| You'll do just fine. She's in her own room so it's the only one you'll have to worry about cleaning. Make sure you work hard on her potty skills, because that's the hardest thing with them. Once you have that down your home free. All puppies sleep a lot. Mine are older and they still sleep a lot. The only time they get really excite is when their going outside. Just hang in there everything will work out.

| She is really doing well on the pee pads she came from the breeder using one, shes been using it since she was about 5 to 6 weeks old. Shes had a couple of accidents but I know shes a little nervous and thats going to happen. I could not ask for a better puppy (except I found a couple of fleas ). |

| You'll be fine. You just have 'new mommy' jitters. It even happens with skin babies as well as fuzzy ones. You are starting off in the right direction. I, too am a clean freak and I have 6 dogs! We adjusted to each other and they are all trained. I do have the occasional accident and every once in awhile the throw up thing, but I have a petbot and plenty of cleaning supplies - and I've discovered that everything cleans up! It's been good for me, has relaxed me a bit on the obsessive cleaning and made me a happier person. Just hang in there! |

| I think we all think that we got in over our heads after we've had our baby(s) for a few days! I know I did! I had 1 yorkie when I was with my ex, so 2 people 1 yorkie and it was fine. We broke up and sadly the pup died. I got my own place and then got 2 boys, so now Im 1 person, 2 dogs! YIKES! No matter how much planning and thought I put into the decision to get them, after about 4 days with them, I was overwhelmed too! You will do GREAT and you will be fine with her! You didnt make the decision lightly At first it seems like A LOT, overwhelming almost, but after awhile it becomes a routine that will work for you both. My boys are 2.5 years old now! The nervousness I had is gone! Keep asking your questions here, get some books to read, consult your vet and just keep loving her and being patient with her! It will all work out!
