| Gerry just be VERY CAREFUL using the trimmer! I got one to trim Mia's ears and hygenic areas as a puppy before I had her groomed and I was trimming her ear and her ear was so thin it went in between the blades and I cut a small chunk of her ear off! You can still see it today if you look close, I cried and cried and felt so terrible that I did something like that, it bled forever! So just be VERY CAREFUL! SHaving too close can also cause irritation on their "private" areas! |

| Thanks Brittany. I might just use the small personal trimmer for the ears and see how that goes. I also tried to catch you on a different thread but I don't know if you have seen it. I wanted to know what you use on Mia to make her so silky looking. Her hair is so beautiful and never has that greezy look. |

And you're right about the noise of the last trimmer. I didn't try trimming anything, but just turned it on so Dublin would get used to it. The noise didn't seem to bother him at all. Thanks for the tips!

| No you still have to pluck the inner ear hair to help prevent infection...you only shave the top third of the ear. Just be careful on the edges!!! Thank you Gerry for your comments on Mia's coat, I use Chris Christenson's Day-to-day shampoo and conditioner and the Ice-on-Ice spray after her bath. It makes her coat really healthy! You can get it at www.chrissystems.com! |

| I agree with the suggestion of trimming in the direction the hair grows. I also give the men in my family their hair "styles" and do the same thing.. |

| I clip Maggie's with round end scissors (baby scissors), while she is alseep. Keeping that pokey hair away from her eyes, stops the eyes from running.

| I am having hair problems too. I want Roxy and TJ to be able to see (I want to see their eyes too, they are so cute!) So I did cut their hair. Their top brow area looks so good and cute but I am having trouble with the hair in the inside corners of their eyes and the area just above their noses. I cut it as short as I could (they do not like this at all, I have to do most of it when they were sleeping but even that wasn't so easy). So, I was looking into getting one or both of the trimmers that 'red98vett' is recomending. Can you tell me which would be best to get that area I am having trouble with? I don't want that hair to poke them but I just don't see how else to handle this area. When it was long, it was constantly covering their eyes and getting the goopy stuff and then it was so hard to get out after a day of playing and fighting while I am at work. Now that is it shorter I can clean them easier but it just seems that it has to be shorter??? Am I wrong??? What should I do? |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That Personal Trimmer is what I use - I feel like you do on that hair - I keep it trimmed in the CORNER of the eye - and just barely under the eye - It's really opens up those pretty eyes and only takes a minute to do - I DO use both the small trimmers - the Wahl 1" Head is the only one I DONT use on the face. The 2 smaller ones I do use - but the Personal Trimmer is the one that only takes off tiny bits of hair ...so it's easier to NOT make a mistake with - It's the one that looks like it has a little comb on the end .... |

| You are wonderful! Thanks so much for answering me. I hated to leave Roxy and TJ this morning b/c I know that I didn't do 'that great of job' with the scizzors. They both still have hairs sticking out in the inside corners that I know will be poking them when they are messing around today. I just want them to be comfortable at all times. It sounds like I will have much success with the Personal Trimmer (although I am sure I will still have to do it while they are sleeping). I happen to be going to Bed, Bath & Beyond today, do you think this one is the same the Personal Trimmer? http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...1&sku=12949650 or maybe this one would be good b/c it is angled?? http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...1&SKU=13292485 Where did you get yours? |

Came back to say that yes, DO be careful when using that Wahl one on the edges of the ears. The ear CAN slip between the little combs to get to the blade. But how I do it is like the breeder showed me, get the hair a little damp and spread it out along the edges. Then take the clipper and lay it longways along the ear edge and move from the ear - out. Make sense? Never hold the buzzer the other way where the ear can get between the little comb teeth. Wish I could demonstrate that but hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

This pic is to show how I like to trim my girls - this is not an after pic but it shows what I did when I used the other trimmer - you won't take off too much with the Personal trimmer like you can see I did with Chanel - Now I try to trim a little less...

| WOW, nice picture! Thanks again! I am really exited to get the Personal Trimmer. I do have a 1" trimmer already (my boyfriends for his gotee (sp?) and I will probably get the 1/4" Wahl Detailer as well. I have to tackle one at a time. I have only had the babies for just over a month and everything is still so new and sometimes overwhelming for me and them too. My main concern right now is the corner of the eyes. Then I will attack the paws. I too have wood floors and they are already slipping all around. We go to the Vet today for our rabbies shot and I want to ask if they can trim their nails (I am way tooo scared for that). I also want to ask the Vet about cleaning inside their ears. Like what I should use and how far do I go. I do notice it looks like they have some spots wax? in their ears, oh and also I hope the Vet can pluck any hairs in there that need to be (I don't think that I can do that one either!) Thanks Again! |
