| Male or Female? I am new to the forum and I am looking to adopt a yorkie pup, I initially wanted a female because growing up I have always had female dogs, but the more I read it seems that the male yorkie is more affectionate and a better pet..is this true? I am not breeding my puppy I will be getting him or her fixed as soon as possible... Please give me yall opinion on what i should do? |

| male or female I personally have found that there is indeed a difference between the two. as far as personality,a boy is usually more playful than a girl, if she is energetic he is more energetic.boys love you with lots of affection but the girls are more laid back and will cuddle next to you. they follow you more than the boys do. all you have to do when looking is observe the differences when you go to pick your pup, play with each one and you will see the slight differences.you will also have to pay attention to sex of litter as far as girl to boy ratio. if there are more girls in the litter the boy will be more calm and laid back, and if you are getting a girl out of an mostly male litter the girl will be more aggressive like the boys.and not to mention mom and dads temperment

| I think it depends on the pup. My female is super affectionate and cuddly. My male is more independent and more playful.

| I like the boys the best. They are more loving and affectionate. They love to be with you all the time where the girl I had was very independent.

| see which puppy comes to you..My son has the brother to my little girl..their little boy won't let them out of his site, to where my girls very seldom follow me..the little boys when they get older tend to be more affectionate..I only have the one boy, and he was full of pee and vinegar up until about a year ago(he's 2 1/2 now), but, he was the one always getting in to things.. But, out of all of them, he's the most loving.. |

| I have two adult males andd four adult and teen females. My males are ten times more affectionate than the girls. i also have a litter of five puppies. Three males and two girls. I have even noticed a difference in the personalities of the males from the girls. |

| I think it is really depends on the pup. Chloe is definitely a mommy's girl! She loves follow me and my attention much more than my fiance. Since she is my first furbaby, I don't really know the difference b/w male and female. But I do plan to get another dog next year or so...and it will be a boy! However, I do like the idea dressing my furbaby up though? |

| I have a male and a female. They are both affectionate. My male wants to be in my lap all the time. Good luck in your decision. |

| It depends on the animal! They do not automatically have certain traits because they are either male or female. We have had many animals that were both male and female. They are/were; who they are/were due to their personality, genetic make-up etc. -- not because of their gender. We presently have: 1 female Shih Tzu, 2 female Yorkies, 1 male cat and 1 female cat. They are all very different and have their own personality! We have had very affectionate males and females; and vice versa. Mammals are living and thinking beings--not assembly line products. We have had spayed females that liked to hump and raise their legs to pee; and have had males that squatted to pee and never showed any interest in any form of mating, both before and after being neutered. And these are traits that are usually the most gender related! When talking about showing affection, loyalty etc., the spectrum is as broad with animals as it is with humans. When you find the animal that is truely meant to be yours; you will feel the connection, in some way. The gender of the animal will most likely, not even be a factor. Good luck and early congrats on your new family addition! |

| That's a question to which there isn't one answer to. Each yorkie is different and has their very own personality. I have two boys and they are the apples of my eyes. They are very loving and both are momma's boys. I've had girl dogs growing up and they were wonderful too. One thing is for sure, yorkies are the best- boys or girls. Good luck on your puppy quest!
