It depends on the animal! They do not automatically have certain traits because they are either male or female. We have had many animals that were both male and female. They are/were; who they are/were due to their personality, genetic make-up etc. -- not because of their gender.
We presently have: 1 female Shih Tzu, 2 female Yorkies, 1 male cat and 1 female cat. They are all very different and have their own personality! We have had very affectionate males and females; and vice versa. Mammals are living and thinking beings--not assembly line products.
We have had spayed females that liked to hump and raise their legs to pee; and have had males that squatted to pee and never showed any interest in any form of mating, both before and after being neutered. And these are traits that are usually the most gender related! When talking about showing affection, loyalty etc., the spectrum is as broad with animals as it is with humans.
When you find the animal that is truely meant to be yours; you will feel the connection, in some way. The gender of the animal will most likely, not even be a factor.
Good luck and early congrats on your new family addition! |
