| ![]() It all depends on if you are growing a show coat or you just have a pet coat. Misting the hair gives the hair about 50% more elasticity before breaking. Clean hair grows faster and more healthy. You have to decide what works best for you and your dog. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | ![]() My two show silkies actually get a bath twice, the get conditioned every Sat/Sun and then are put in oil around the middle of the week...they are also brushed twice a day and I have some oil based product that I also put on them. Since they are show dogs, we have to really protect their coats since they play outside so much. Our pet girls get a bath once a week to week and half...this keeps them clean but doesn't seem to dry them out too much!! We use some oil base products on their hair to reestablish their naturals oil after each bath. I think you have to do what works best for you and your little ones...each yorkie is different and requires different coat maintaince. I don't think their is any "right or wrong" way to care for the coat, esp. for just pet yorkies!!

| ![]() All mine get bathed every Friday, a good brushing about 3 times a week on usually a dry coat. On Thanksgiving my daughter dressed them all up in their outfits and they looked so cute. I took the shirts off after dinner but the next morning I noticed matted hair at the roots everywhere the shirt "ends" were, especially on the front legs ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Hi, thanks for that post. I almost stopped dressing my 2 as well, since I was horrified at the tangles, that's when I started using conditioner and found it helps, but like you mentioned, it helps most to brush them before and right after taking the clothes off. Yippeee! back to wearing clothes!
