I'd love to hear first hand accounts of people who do or have shipped. Pehaps if I heard enough positive experiences it would help offset all the negative ones I've heard about.

An email friend of mine paid big bucks for a toy poodle pup that she bought as her foundation stud, and had him shipped. Turns out he was a monorchid. At the vets recommendation, she waited (and hoped and prayed) 5 mos. for that errant testicle to descend. In the end, he had to be neutered, the owner lost not only the $ to purchase and ship him him but also the dreams of having a really spectacular little stud. I felt badly for her because this was a no win situation. After 5 mos. it would have been devastating to ship him back as she'd become attached (naturally) and he was, in all other respects, in good health. The breeder didn't seem to think this was enough of an issue to warrant any restitution on their part, and it wasn't one of the things specifically mentioned in the health guaruntee. ANother of those "sticky situations" and, I guess a bit of a warning that buyers have to be extremely careful about what is, and isn't, covered in the purchase contract (irregardless of wether the dog is shipped or not).

| YT 1000 Club Member | (NO PUPPY!).. but in her contract it states that if she/he isn't to my satisfacion by one week then I can trade for equal value (with me paying shipping both ways)... But it is a risk I am willing to take. i would be as if someone got their baby across the US. The shipping is usually $250 and her shipping is $300 (almost the same)... If I buy in the US and want to trade then it would basically be the same price. And you have to trust that that person will be honest. And I do expecially now that I recieved a reply from their kennel club stating that they do show. would you like a pm with their website? |

| Sure, I'd like to have a look at the site - thanks. You're right, in essense it's much the same as shipping within the country - which I wouldn't do either. (laughing) O.K. - so I'm a little paranoid.. - actually, a LOT paranoid. However, if it's something you'd be comfortable with and you've researched it, checked out the breeder etc.etc. than I'd say.... you go Girl!!! |
