Urgent Question!.... Can you help answer?! This is Hypothetically! Say I had the option to get a puppy from a different country but they can only ship to an international airport. This airport is about 5 or so hour drive away and I don't have an option to drive. Do you think it would be OK to fly to the international airport a few hours or a day ahead and pick up the puppy at the airport (after going through customs) and then flying back home that same day with the puppy? Is there anything that have to be done? (like have a US medical record. can we still use the one from the breeder in the other country?)... Thanks |
I'm not sure, but, the thing I found with my (so called biewer), is when he was flown all the way from Germany to PA, then here, he was terrible..he couldn't stand being in anything that was closed up(crate, even xpen made big with a top on it), he was terrible..I think if that were me, I would rather get one from the US..after going through what I've gone through with my little guy, and now not even thinking he's purebred.. |
Just wanted to make sure you are absolutely positive this is a reputable breeder and not one of those scams going around. Please, be very, very careful. |
There are so many beautiful puppies right here. When I got Romeo, We only had to drive 30 min and the price was great. We stayed at the breeders house for almost an hour. LOL, only cause she was so great and I loved playing with the other pups. I did save for a long time and looked for a long time, but in the long run, we ended up with a great pup. Hope I'm not getting off track. I'm just saying there might be something closer to home. Hope everything turns out alright. |
You need to carefully examine the import laws regarding live animnals. I believe there is a quaranteen period. This is a personal issue. I would never ever fly a dog as small as a Yorkie unless it was in the cabin under the seat in front of me. I know others ship dogs with good results, on the other hand, I have heard of way too many horror stories about shipping live animals. With that being said, I would fly over, pick the dog up and then fly back with the dog in the cabin with me. |
The puppy could be not what you wanted, could be a scam, paperwork problems. Like others said, there are so many good pups here that you can go take a look at, have a connection before you pay for it. AND, why not keep the American dollar in the states. We outsource enough crap as it is. Just my opinion. Good luck |
Kathy785 and Scrapindee have beautiful dogs from Germany that they bred in the US and they are gorgeous. |
Is it from Brazil? Please be careful. As long as they are a good breeder and you know for sure, why not:) |
Yeah it is a show breeder. i had her put my name by the puppy and others have gotten a puppy from her also. |
Not from Brazil. But I was wondering if a puppy shipped from Mexico will have to go through the same procedures as if from a far away country (like Brazil or Italy) |
hmm i think so, im pretty sure since it's a diff. country. |
I'm thinking that, too.. But maybe they might be less strict? (and no it's not from Mexico either! :) ) |
My 2 cents: If you decide to go for this pup, then I think you'd better fly to this other country and visit the breeder's home before buying the puppy... I know this would cost you more money, but at least you won't be scammed... |
If you pay by paypal you can get your money back right? (i only used it once to recieve) |
Houston has an international airport. That isn't that far of a drive. |
