| Should I be worried? Hello everyone! This is my first post on yorkietalk! I'm excited to be here and look forward to meeting all of you and your little darlings. I'm looking for a breeder and while searching the internet I found one close to me. Her site says that she has been a breeder for 12 years. She has pictures of her adults posted online along with some of her past pups. I have been emailing her for the past few days. She has two little boys for sale and I asked if I could come and meet her and her dogs. She replied that I could but not until Saturday and that she only shows her dogs to serious buyers b/c of the time it takes to get the puppies and parents ready. I understand that she doesn't want to be like a petstore where people just come by and play with her dogs and then leave. I am serious about buying a dog, but that doesn't mean that I will buy from her b/c I have to meet her and her animals first. I thought that a breeder would be a little more welcoming than this. What advice do you guys have and is this normal? |

| First off, welcome to YT! You have come to the right place for answers! You said you found her on the net? What is her website? Maybe you can get some input or someone will know her. I understand her not wanting to entertain every person that comes along who isn't really serious, guess it was all in the way she said it. |

| It's freespiritkennels.com. Her site seems reputable and she seems really nice. I guess I've just heard too many horror stories about breeders. Thanks for any input. I certainly need it! |

| Welcome to YT glad you found us. I know when I got Deiter, My breeder was more than happy to have us come. And she has lots, and lots of yorkies. Did you look under Yorkie for sale on here at YT to see if there is any Breeders in you area from here. I totaly understand where and why you want to go there to see the breeder and puppy's and the parnets of the puppy's. Good luck on finding one.

| Welcome to YT! I think most reputable breeders will only allows those that they think are serious about buying a puppy actually come to their house to see the puppies. I've seen several breeders here on YT say that they e-mail back and forth and talk on the phone a few times and if they approve the potential buyer then they will allow them to come see the puppies. You may not be positive that you're buying a puppy from this breeder, but she knows you are serious about buying a puppy and has met her qualifications so far The only thing that sounds wierd to me is that it takes a long time to get the parents and puppies ready. I know puppies make a mess so maybe she just wants to make sure their area is spotless, but I don't know why it would take a really long time to get everything all ready. I can understand Saturdays though because most people are very busy during the week

| Welcome to YT!! This is a wonderful place for yorkie owners & we have so much addictive fun here, I hope you will be back as you prepare for your own furbaby & let us see pictures when you get him or her. I don't think what this breeder is asking is all that unusual. There are a lot of just curious people out there & unfortunately scammers - it sounds like she is just being wise and careful. Once you go to her home, you will have a better feel for her and her dogs and if this is where you want to buy from. Best wishes.

| Hmmm...just looked at the site and those mommas are pretty small. 4 pounds? 3 3/4 pounds? Also makes me wonder what age she places the pups...we all know that 12 weeks is the standard age for Yorkies pups, but she talks about what to do 'until they are 3 months old' and the contracts says you have to take possession of the pup by the time they are 12 weeks.....hmmm....just a few things to watch for. I find the most trustworthy breeder the kind that you can develop a good non-business like relationship. If you feel like you have found that, like what you see, etc, then you have found your breeder. |

| Your a Human, so is she. Go over her house if its not that far and see how you like the atmosphere. See if she is a well spoken, good and clean person. See if the house is clean and well taken care off. General things. If you catch a bad vibe then you can leave. Just make a list of things you want to ask before hand and keep it in your head, dont read it in front of her on a peace of paper, I think its rude. From her perspective, its understandable why she doesnt want everyone coming over all the time. Some might want to steal, rob, torture animals and there are a lot of bad people out there these days so she has to be careful as well. Last of all, look at a few breeder so you have basis for comparison. And trust, me when you find the pup that belongs to you, YOU WILL now it. its one of those things that magic takes care of. |

| I am a breeder and know several. Most of them do not let people come in and handle and play with the puppies until they have had puppy shots. Also, things like coccida and other things, can be carried into homes on the soles of peoples shoes. After mine have had shots, people are welcome to come. |

| Welcome to YT. Saturday doesn't sound bad to me, because a lot of breeders have to work during the week, and may be just to tired to show on a week night. I'd give it a look see.
