| We are having the same problem Dawn kills them but only until the next time he goes outside. Murfee is also on frontline but he never had them when he was one Revolution. Both indoor cats had them too. We have bathed, sprayed, bombed the house and sprayed the yard and we even found one on my granddaughters head We are at our wits end on what to do. |

| I had Cody and Gracie and the cat on frontline plus, didn't work, then tried revolution, nope, sentinel, not that either. I put advantage on them sprayed my rugs with sargents Gold household flea and tick spray (5 bucks a can at walmart) so far I haven't seen a flea here in two weeks. cross your fingers, we'll see how long it lasts. We had fleas so bad here that when I would put frontline on them I would have to worm them too! Not anymore!!!!!! so far

| I had a seriously bad flea problem when I lived in my apartment. You should try some pills called capstar which you can find on any dog meds website (1800petmeds.com) And it kills the fleas within a few hours. It really worked for me, however, I had not gotten rid of the fleas in the yard, so he would just get them back. You need to spray your whole yard, thoroughly. You should also bomb your house. But make sure everyone is out of the house before you do so! I found the only thing that worked was spraying the yard, thats where they hide! Since weve been keeping up with the yard hes been flea free! My vet told me flea colars dont work so not to waste my money! But I feel your pain, the bites from fleas are so painful! Please please spray you yard, it may be a little expensive for the spray (I believe my dad used tallstar) But its worth it! Good luck!

| honestly you sound like you've tried everything. i'm not sure the problem is your dog anymore so much as it is your house. when you have one flea chances are you literally have thousands! i've been there twice. fleas ended up in my garage and my animals were NEVER in my garage. my advice is get professionals to come bomb your house. while they are doing this take your pets to the vet and have them dipped and just a little fyi i also recommend putting flea powder in your car and doing A LOT of laundry in hott water. i know it sounds extreme but when you leave two fleas behind in a month the same problem will occur with thousands. good luck! barbie and kira |

Oh, if you live in an area where it will freeze, then you will need to repeat this treatment in the spring, after the threat of a freeze. For those of you who live in central or south Texas or the southern U.S., go ahead and do it now. It will take about 3 weeks for the fleas to be gone, but they will be gone. You will need to get them out of your house too, if it is infested. There are several organic (non chemical) ways to do this and I would encourage you to try those before using chemicals. I really try to not use chemicals on my babies, so this is what I do. I realize that some people have large yards or there may be other reasons that this won’t work for everyone, but here goes…… Beneficial nematodes are the answer to flea control in your yard. Read more about them here http://www.marchbiological.com/L/ben...nematodes.html They are microscopic organisms that feed on a variety of soil insects and they will keep fleas, etc. out of your yard. If you have fleas in your yard, then you will never get them off your baby. Of course, if you live in an apartment, then this solution won’t work for you. Also, that does not mean that your baby won't get a flea when they go on a walk or that a flea might crawl over into your yard from the neighbors yard. But that can be controlled by bathing your babies in Dawn dishwashing soap or some other non-toxic method. If there are no fleas in your yard, then you CAN win the battle. The nematodes will also keep the fire ants out of your yard and that is a great benefit to those of us who live in the south. I have used the nematodes for 6-7 years and have not had a flea problem in all that time. I have outdoor dogs living on both sides of my yard too. The nematodes work great! You can usually get them at any organic gardening store. They can also be ordered, but they must be kept cool or they will die, so if you order them, be sure the supplier plans to cool ship them. Also, follow the directions EXACTLY for putting them on the yard. You will have to water your yard in the summer when it is very dry, enough so that the nematodes do not dry up and die - maybe once a week or so, if it is not raining. I have outdoor dogs on both sides of my yard so I put diatamaceous earth around the perimeter of my yard to keep the fleas from crawling into my yard. It works great, but it must be reapplied after a heavy rain. It is also a non-toxic pest control substance. http://www.hydromall.com/happy_grower16.html I sprinkle it on my roses to control little pesky bugs who want to chew the leaves!!! I know is sounds a little nutty, but it really works! Good luck!

| I also had a flea problem earlier this past summer. We had a pest control person come out and spray the entire inside of the house. We had to leave for a few hours, which wasn't that big of a deal. He also sprayed all of the yard. We usually have them come out a few times every two months, but for some reason, we had a huge flea infestation. After he came to spray specificially for fleas, the problem was fixed. |

| You may need to change flea treatment. My chloe was on advantage for a long time and then it stopped working. My vet suggested using using a different brand every few months to keep her from getting used to it and it worked! We use frontline for a while and then switch back to advantage. Also you need a good vacuum and use it every day until you get the fleas out of your house and spray the yard, change her bedding daily too. |

Dawn dish soap works great to kill adult fleas. Dilute it with water 50/50, then pour it on a dry dog, lather, let it sit for awhile and rinse. Bombs will also kill adult fleas. If you keep seeing them, there are eggs hatching in your carpet. The only thing that works for me is Adams Carpet Powder (not the spray). I've tried other brands, but Adams is the only one that works. Sprinkle it on your carpet (one canister covers about 400 square feet) then work it in with a broom. Let it sit for 24 hours, then vacuum. I battled fleas all summer with topicals, bombs and Dawn, but the carpet powder finally got rid of them within 10 days. | |

| Wow! I'm not alone! Sargie picked up a flea somewhere on his walks this fall and by the time we discovered them, it was too late. My vet was on vacation so I ended up getting Hartz 4-in-1 even tho I didn't want to, which almost killed him. When my vet returned he gave me Myconex shampoo, which didn't work, and then Protocall, which didn't work (of all the threads I've been on regarding fleas, no one has ever mentioned Protocall...figures!). They told me to get some Bayer stuff that Lowe's sells, put it in the carpet and vacuum, but of course Lowe's didn't know what I was talking about. I have birds and fish and it's a hassle to bomb the house and the vet said it wouldn't work anyway...finally I used Zodiac puppy spray which did get us ahead of the fleas, but I am sure they were in the house, despite using Sargent Natural house spray ($12.00 can at Target) which says it kills eggs also and can be sprayed on wood, drapes, upholstery and carpet - then came the cooler temps, and I think we may have finally won - I hope so. I had bites, and it was embarrassing - I felt like I was keeping a dirty house, I was worried about the puppy, and I was itching. Reading so many flea threads I have culled only a very few things everyone agrees on: Don't use Hartz; use Dawn dish detergent; the fleas are getting to be immune to the flea medicines; nobody knows what Protocall is. Let us fight the good fight against the vermin! Sargie and CS |
