Animal Smiley 019 Wow! I'm not alone!

Sargie picked up a flea somewhere on his walks this fall and by the time we discovered them, it was too late. My vet was on vacation so I ended up getting Hartz 4-in-1 even tho I didn't want to, which almost killed him. When my vet returned he gave me Myconex shampoo, which didn't work, and then Protocall, which didn't work (of all the threads I've been on regarding fleas, no one has ever mentioned Protocall...figures!). They told me to get some Bayer stuff that Lowe's sells, put it in the carpet and vacuum, but of course Lowe's didn't know what I was talking about. I have birds and fish and it's a hassle to bomb the house and the vet said it wouldn't work anyway...finally I used Zodiac puppy spray which did get us ahead of the fleas, but I am sure they were in the house, despite using Sargent Natural house spray ($12.00 can at Target) which says it kills eggs also and can be sprayed on wood, drapes, upholstery and carpet - then came the cooler temps, and I think we may have finally won - I hope so. I had bites, and it was embarrassing - I felt like I was keeping a dirty house, I was worried about the puppy, and I was itching. Reading so many flea threads I have culled only a very few things everyone agrees on: Don't use Hartz; use Dawn dish detergent; the fleas are getting to be immune to the flea medicines; nobody knows what Protocall is.

Let us fight the good fight against the vermin!
