The tone of this post is a bit strong. It sounds as though she's doing the right thing, she's asking for help here, she's spoken with a vet tech and she has an appointment set up with a vet. Lets try to help her instead of scaring her more than she already is. I got my puppy at just before 6 weeks because of Hurricane Katrina. My breeder wanted to get what puppies out that he could, in case of evacuation. He had to evacuate, so my baby was safer with me. Chuy has NO social problems. He's such a sweet, loving dog that gets along with all the people and other pets in my family, and he has no psych issues. She'll be fine with the right precautions. Edit: I do agree he needs to be seen before December. Try to get him seen tomorrow, to make sure he's not got any tummy issues, and that he's on the right track with shots.

| ![]() Actually, I don't think my post was that strong at all. I didn't say that the puppy will have socialization problems problems. I said might have. Here is why. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31003 It is the development of a puppy and no good breeder will let a Yorkie puppy go before 10-12 weekis and most definately not before 8 or 9. I think it is consistent with the show breeders out there. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I had also told Cathi that six weeks old is too young to get a puppy a couple weeks ago. I know it is so exciting to actually find one and you would want to take it at just about any age. I got mine way too young also. I agree that what is important now is to get vet checked (an intern may do but not a tech) and get on a feeding schedule. I am sorry if anyone was offended by my post though.

| ![]() Welcome Cathi and your new baby! Does your little one have a name yet? I was thinking, we have a lot of vets around here with walk in hours. Maybe you have some around you that you could find and take him in earlier???? Just a thought ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Welcome to YT!!! Congratulation on your new baby!!! Since your baby boy is sooo young, you will have to be more careful than usual. Can't wait to see some picture of your boy. Have you named him yet?? Lots of love, attention, and care!!! Make sure he is getting enough food and water. Start socialize as soon as he can, hope he can interact with other puppies.... | ![]() Cathi, I just wanted to reiterate that no one is mad at you, only concerned about the welfare of that tiny baby you have on your hands. What food were you given and how are you feeding him?

| ![]() It just sounded like Cathi was being chastised for the breeder passing the puppy off to leave and go out of town, when it wasn't Cathi's fault. Perhaps I read more into it that was there, it's been a long day. I've got a sick skin baby. My apologies.

| ![]() I know that he was too young to get him, but they really needed to get before they took off to New York. The lady husband has cancer. I did ask her to hold him until the 21st but she said that they needed to be in New York by Friday. I was just trying to help her out. As for the vet services I use the military vet office and I need to wait until there is an available appointment. I am very glad that I have so many people trying to help me out. Thank you, Cathi |

| ![]() This "Breeder" and I say that loosely is an idiot. I am speaking from experience. We took our Bella at 5 weeks. She was extremely enemic and we almost lost her. We had to bottle feed etc. She is now almost four yrs. old and she has some issues from not being weaned properly. It is very very wrong to sell a puppy so young. Your pup should not be leaving the mom until atleast 10 weeks and preferably 12 weeks. I'm really not sure what else to say to you. I'd tell you to make them keep your pup longer, but from your post it really appears that this person could care less. The best thing for to do if you intend on taking this pup so young, is to take him or her right to the vet and work very closely with the vet in assuring your pup is getting enough nurishment etc. Best of luck. BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | ![]() Let's not scare her away! She needs are help right now. Welcome to YT hun. As long as your lil boy is eating, drinking water and going #1 and #2 you will be fine. If for some reason you think he is sleeping way to much and you can't wake him up and he seems limp, you need to give him some honey, kayro syrup or even better get some puppy nutrical. The problem with tiny yorkies is the hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) You need to make sure that you don't leave him alone for long periods of time. It may be smart to make sure he eats before he goes to bed at night. We would love to see some pics of your new lil guy and if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask, we are here to help you not put you down! |
