| Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I've only had one Yorkie ~ Ms. Abigail, so I really have no comparison except for what people tell me. I do know that Abigail is definitely a momma's girl. She likes dh; but, if she's in my lap - or, especially if I'm napping - he'd best not even come into the room! I don't know where she got the idea she needs to protect me from hubby

| I so feel for you. Having to wait a couple months is a lot harder than just a couple of weeks. I'd go nuts. I've been going to the pet store for a while and have now just started buying things for Benito (we settled on the name!). I bought a food and water bowl, a shirt and a hoodie, a squeaky toy and some edible chewing bars. I'll keep going to the store over the next couple of weeks until I have everything I need. I don't want to need something and have to leave Benito to go get it. He will be twelve weeks old when I get him so he won't have all the shots so he can't go out until he does. And me, well I'm just going to be stuck to him like glue. Pacey is soo cute, I loved Joshua Jackson, he was so bohemian and misunderstood. Huge crush, moving on. Next on the shopping list are a crate, a brush, shampoo and God knows how many things. I'm so excited and envious at the same time of all the new mommies I've been seeing around the fourum showing off their babies. |

| Now myself, I think girls are easier to train..boys attention spans don't seem as long as the girls...I even find that with the one I just got, they're 15 weeks, Ginger knows what sit means, and she will lay down and sleep quite a lot to where here brother, won't sit still long enough to learn what sit means..My son has him, but, when I babysit on Tuesdays, he's on the go for 10 hours straight..tires me out watching him.. |

| If I were you I would let the puppy pick you. No matter if it is a boy or a girl you are going to love them no matter what. Boys are lovers and girls are much more independent. Keep an open mind and God will bring the right puppy to you.

| Bambino is a cute name! I've been shopping yes but mostly for the basics, a chew toy, a fluffy toy, food bowls, ... unisex stuff. Even though I know I'm getting a boy I don't want to get anything I'm not 100% sure will suit Benito. It was easy to settle on my breeder, hard finding her. I started by looking at the paper's classifieds (online of course), of the many ads I narrowed it down to the ones I liked best but on contacting them I found them ... shall we say "fishy". So I got the Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies book and read all the pertinent breeder info (everything you need to know to tell a good breeder and a bad breeder apart). After reading the book I realized that all those people on the paper were backyard breeders, people who do it only to make a quick buck and not people you want to be buying from. So I went online and found this forum which gave me loads of others people's experiences to learn from and the AKC website which refered me to the local Yorkie breeders club. Someone else had a thread going asking about breeders in my area and one of the responses she got caught my attention, I contacted the responder and she gave me the info as well which turned out to be very solid and good and matched that of the area club. Still I talked to the other breeders I was referred to by the club and even though they were all mostly good I found that the first one was the best one for me. She had the right experience, dedication, we got along, the patience, the price, ... It was harder to find her than it was to realize she was what I was looking for. Anyway, hope this helps. Check the link out for some Benito pics!!! I went to see him today and took these to hold me over until he comes home on Dec 5th. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=103566

| This is like the $64,000 question. When we went to get *a* Yorkie, we could not decide between the calm sweet little boy and the energetic enthusiastic girl. We spent hours there. Ended up with both. 1+ year later, I still couldn't decide if I had to pick just one who it would have been. Tucker is a sweet lap dog and my little mama's boy. But he is also a little dopey, and shy and scared easily of new things and cares nothing for toys. He wouldn't dream of even looking at the cat's food bowl. Lucy on the other hand, is very smart and will sneak into the cat's food if it's within nose's reach. She's a bundle of energy, loves to play and run and is so inquisitive, but forget it if you want her to settle down and snuggle with you. She can barely hold still for a teeth brushing. Either one alone would have made me think "oh so this is how Yorkies are" and yet they are both so different! So I don't know what to tell you. They are both great together, they complement each other so well. And Lucy, being quick to catch on, is able to help Tucker "get the picture" like with potty training. so my answer is, get a boy and a girl. ![]() T |

| T, I would LOVE and die to get two but I'm going to start out with one for now ... this will be my first time raising a puppy all by myself! Hopefully in a year or so I'll most likely get another so they can play together! I've been on the fence about this boy or girl thing but when it comes down to it yes I want a girl so I can dress her up but I wouldn't mind a boy- I just want one that's sweet and cuddly (and def a lap dog)!!!
