This is like the $64,000 question. When we went to get *a* Yorkie, we could not decide between the calm sweet little boy and the energetic enthusiastic girl. We spent hours there. Ended up with both. 1+ year later, I still couldn't decide if I had to pick just one who it would have been. Tucker is a sweet lap dog and my little mama's boy. But he is also a little dopey, and shy and scared easily of new things and cares nothing for toys. He wouldn't dream of even looking at the cat's food bowl. Lucy on the other hand, is very smart and will sneak into the cat's food if it's within nose's reach. She's a bundle of energy, loves to play and run and is so inquisitive, but forget it if you want her to settle down and snuggle with you. She can barely hold still for a teeth brushing. Either one alone would have made me think "oh so this is how Yorkies are" and yet they are both so different! So I don't know what to tell you. They are both great together, they complement each other so well. And Lucy, being quick to catch on, is able to help Tucker "get the picture" like with potty training. so my answer is, get a boy and a girl.
