Hi, You are all so very kind! I did post some pictures of Priscilla but I'm not sure where. LOL I haven't yet got the hang of things. Yes, my contact with the breeders was "Hey, they knew nothing about her liver shunt! She had a well puppy check before you got her and she was fine" But according to her vets, it is a genetic disease. So at least I know I didn't cause it. Oh yes they would take her back, but not help pay for medical expenses! There is no way we could ever give her up! We love her so much. So we do our best and take it day to day. Of course she is spoiled rotten. Her next check up is Nov. 15th. I will keep you posted. Again Thank You all for your good thoughts and helpful information.

Just wanted to say welcome to YT! Sorry to hear that your baby has some health issues... but, Im sure that all of your TLC's what keeps her going. This site is very helpful and hope that you get the answers your looking for

You should most definately find out. It is very serious. Intrahepatic (inside the liver) shunts are not operable and you just support the dog. Usually extrahepatic (outside the liver) shunts are operable and it has to be done. Usually Yorkies get extrahepatic. There is also MVD (microvascular dysplasia) which is little shunts that can't be repaired. How does your vet know that your dog has a shunt? What tests were done? What are the symptoms?

Okay, it is the unrepairable one. We've had every test done available, that I know of anyway. I can't remember their names, But I do know her blood improved after several months of acupuncture. She isn't much of a meat eater, Her vet calls Priscilla her veggie doggy. Priscilla seems to know her liver wont tolerate much protein, so she loves things like apples, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, She will eat some cheese. When her liver is acting up she becomes listless, kind of slowly tip toes around, the first time it hit her she was actually blinded for over a day, and was so very sick. Had to stay in the hospital, But she pulled through much to everyones surprise! Thank God !
She vomits alot, and when she is feeling badly her potty training goes right out the window. One of the first signs she is having a bad day.
