| ![]() Bella was offered to me. I did not seek her out. I knew she had come from a good breeder. I had been asking for a yorkie for over a year but my husband wasnt really wanting a dog. I was so happy when his brother said we cant keep our puppy!! I gladly reimbursed him full price of Bella!! When bella started growing up I was curious! I couldnt imagine her being anything other than a puppy! I did wonder how big will she get?? IT wouldnt have mattered if she were 3 # or 30#. I loved her and loved watching her grow. But i have to admit I did ask that question almost daily!!! Sometimes people may be asking out of sheer curiosity and innocence |

| ![]() I just realised that i didn't even ask copper's breeder how big he would be. I sat and played with the parents and grandparents. I knew that he wasn't going to be as tiny as his sister, (I think that she is about a 2lb dog now) but he was still smaller than most the other pups his age. Still, i never asked how much he would weigh. i think that health and temperment should come first. However, size will matter with my second one, only for the safety of my first. They need to be close enough in size that they can play and have fun without causing any harm to eachother.

| ![]() I agree that size should not be a big deal. I do not feel that there is anything at all wrong with wondering how big your baby will get though. And I think it is wrong to generalize and make a statement that people didn't do their homework before getting a yorkie just because they wonder what size they might grow to be. Is it really any different then wondering what your children will grow like? How tall they will be when they are grown... really I think your getting bent out of shape over nothing.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Dogs have similarities to people. If you are 5'3"--you might weigh 90# or 300#. You can have a 6' father and a 6' mother and be 5'3". My point is that there is a standard....but there are variances. People aren't expecting to follow a standard when they marry and have children. Unless you're breeding, showing, or maybe have a medical condition that requires a certain size adult dog, in the end we all love our pets. JMHO |

Now to the one who started this thread, When I bought Winstin I wondered how big he would be. I did read up on him but I kept reading standard 7 pounds, over and over. That told me nothing!!! I had never owned a Yorkie before, I knew his color would change. I was a bit anxious to know what the love of my life was going to look like. I wanted to have a vision of my boy. What good is it, if we ask questions on here and then run across threads like this? I think you need to relax, and enjoy life and not let peoples questions get to you.

| ![]() I love my 9 lb pundle of Yorkie love. Ive had 3 Yorkies now and she is the biggest. I think its great!!!!. I will never show her or get her to do some competition. She means more to me than winning some cash or ribbons. She is our child and sleeps with us every night and she brings us more happiness and fun then we ever imagined. Try losing a Yorkie , then see if size mattters.People should love them no matter what and not feel bad because they got a bigger one.Especially when the rule is that they are healthier. God Bless you all and all your big and little babies. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() YT is here to help other yorkie owners no matter what your question is!!! If you are bothered by those that want to know how big their Yorkie will get ....don't read their post!!! I think it would be abnormal to not wonder how big your baby will get. In our case, size most positively 100% did matter!!! We did our homework on Yorkies and fell in love with the breed... we were so excited that not all Yorkies were tiny. We wanted a "bigger" Yorkie because we wanted him to able to run & play with our little boy. We found a reputable breeder that had lots of tiny Yorkies but she had one that she was advertising as her "big boy". That "big boy" is now our, Buddy, he is one year old and 10 pounds!!! If he keeps growing that is fine with us. He is 100% boy....because he is bigger he plays all sports with our son; "soft" football, frisbee, jumps on trampoline, swims, etc...if he was tiny he would not of worked for our family. So yes, size did and does matter to our family!!!

![]() If, of course, your showing that's an all together different story because you have no choice as to their size.

| ![]() i was told Belle would be between 3 and 5 pounds and now at 1 year and 3 months of age she weighs in at about 7lbs 2oz... i was just reading the breed standard on the AKC website, and realized that i have never met a yorkie that meets the standard, seeing as they haev the progressive gray gene and whatnot... and they're teeth are generally not good...=/ i'd love to see pictures of an AKC show yorkie, Belle is AKC registered, and her parents too...but dad was definately silver when i met him... and belle will probably end up there in the future... although it alternates, her roots are still black... she's perfect to me though, and that is all that matters!

Super wonderful.....the best of both worlds, that Yorkie flair with enough pounds to hang with your child.

| ![]() Just thought that I would share, the most beautiful yorkie I had ever seen in person was 12lbs. She looked like she was headed to a show, her color was exactly what you would expect. and there was a lot of energy put in to that coat. She was a very pampered girl who belonged to one of my customers. They are wonderful dogs at every size. But there is a big difference between a 2lb furbaby and a 12lb furbaby so it would be silly to not think about size. not that you would love them any more or less based on that.
