| I don't have any pet insurance. The only way I would get it is if one of mine starts to develop health problems. At that point, I think it's beneficial. Of course, with 5, I think I would be throwing away a lot of money that only has a small chance of ever being utilized. If you have one or two...it may be more affordable and worth it to you. My mom's best friend has german shepherds, and she has insurance on them because health problems are very common with that breed. I wouldn't say Yorkies are prone to health issues, but of course their size factors in. It's really a personal choice...it's just taking a chance. You could never use it...or you could, god forbid, have a huge vet bill come up and be grateful you have it. I do know for a fact, however, that many things aren't covered under certain plans...so be careful and read up and research if you decide to get one. Hope this helps... |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have VPI on both of my Yorkies and have been very happy with ii. Cali had over 7000.00 in vet bills her first year and they covered over 2000.00. Some of her conditiions were preexisting so they best thing to do is if you are going to get it, get it right away before they have any vet visits for non routine things. Pixie had 2 ER visits in July that cost close to 700.00 and I got back 400.00. I pay 23.00 a month for each one. My 10 year old pom has been very sick and has no insurance and it is costing me a fortune. I personally will always have my dogs covered.

| Hi - I am enrolled with a company called www.petsbest.com. They have a couple of different options to choose from where it can cover basic routine shots, etc and is only about $20.00 a month for my dog. I am going to try it for a year and see if it is worth it, but since my two are so healthy - we will see how much I use it.

| thank you The reason I guess I am spooked is because my friend had the original mother, then kept a daughter out of that litter, and then a daughter out of the daughter's litter. Lo and behold, the baby (8 years old) had to have a 2,800.00 surgery, went into cardiac arrest, and then had like another 2,000.00 trying to bring her back, but they had to have her put to sleep. The insurance covered 70% of all of this, but I was with him when he paid for her final day and it alone was $484.00. I guess all of this just scared me and I started thinking INSURANCE!!!!! |

| I am planning to get insurance for Pippa this week, probably VPI... She is 11 weeks old and we have had her less than a week... You just never know what willl come up and I would hate to have money "issues" delay me from seeking medical care for her if necessary.
