| disgusted I no that my 3 girls dont get walked often as they are real house dogs. I mean I sit with them every morning at my front door, and repeat this a few times during the day. Well today I decided I would bring them up to my local park. Its absoulty beautiful up there. We have 2 ponds with a lot of swans and imagrating birds up there. Its only 10 minutes walk away. But the thing that scares me about it is, that no matter what size of dog you have they are all let of the leash. Thats why I dont like to bring them up. But anyway I thought id give them a treat as they love it up there. Anyways of course I was to lazy to walk up, , and my hubby Fra drove me up. The 4 of us had a great time walking around, and because of the time of day there wasnt many dogs. When we got home Fra told me to read the local paper. Well jeez I was so lucky with my babys. The day before a man was walking his 8yo female yorkie and she was off the leash, just running about like mine would have done. In the paper the poor guy says that 2 japenese akitas just came towards his wee baby Holly and almost ripped her in 2. He says that he was in so much shock, that he just lifted her and run half a mile to the vet with her. She had to be be put to sleep. The poor guy says that he never even had time to get the owners details. My god how awful is that. I find myself so lucky, I really do. If that had have been me the day before it could have been 1 of mine. I will never take take my babys to a public park again, no way, it would kill me if anything happend to them. Its a pity that here we dont have parks for small dogs and bigger dogs parks. That poor man and his family, he is absoulty devasted. Jeez Id say my girls had a lucky escape. As some of my friends no, that is the same breed dog that attacked my hubby. We have a law here that these dogs and many others are banned here in Ireland. I dont understand how they can get away with it. __________________

| That is so sad. I know I am a fanatic when it comes to my dogs but I never even take mine to the doggie parks. People let them off the leash, they may have some sort of disease, maybe not even their shots. I guess anyone would think I am just a nut when it comes to them, but, they are like our kids and I just don't want to take a chance. That poor little baby, that is just horrible. You know so many dogs get the blame for poor ownership and training. I blame the people. Thats like here in the states where the pit bulls have such a bad reputation. Any dog could be trained to be mean. I feel so sorry for these dogs that are trained to fight and kill. I am so glad you didn't have to witness that poor little dog being hurt like that. It really pays not to take any chances. |

| It drives me crazy when people walk around with their dogs off the leash, especially if they are vicious! We have a large open space hiking area near our house and leashes are required. I have a Jack Russell who loves to hike and is ALWAYS on a leash. But we are constantly approached by large dogs off the leash and it really freaks my dog out. I feel so sorry for this man and his poor little dog! |

| I am very lucky to have a HUGE park in a very small town..the park is sooo big and no one uses it very often...which is sad..but lucky for me!! I take Reece there and let him go off leash..he can run forever..if I ever see a dog or another human go by I quickly leash him...even a medium sized dog could do damage if it wanted too... |

| I have only taken Deiter to the park 2 times. But I do take the boys for at least 4 30min to 45 min walks aday That is so terrible. When we went Deiter took a German Sherpard down. Because that dog wouldn't leave him alone and he had enough. It was funny. Because the owner had just said that I had a kick dog and I needed to get a real dog. Well when that happened. I said well who has the kick dog now. And he left with his dog.............lol

| I really no what you mean. But here in Ireland we dont have any dog parks that lets us seperat the wee ones form the big ones. We dont suffer from rabies here. But we do suffer from feirce dogs. The american pitbull is banned and an awful lot of dogs including the Akita. And I really feel that this is justifed here. Maybe ill get slammed for it, but i dont care. Ill stick my guns on this 1. Thes dogs shouldnt be amoung people unless they are muzzeled

| so sad ... I am the same way lately ... I will take them outside and sit with them on the porch but they are always on a leash. My home is in a condo area and we are in a court like setting, so not near the street ... I feel so sad for that man about losing his baby, that way especially. How horrible. Keep your babies close to you, I also worry about grass spread diseases, etc.

| Jeez guys the I way Im looking at it. Wasnt I so lucky. really. What if it had have happened to 1 of my girls. I wouldnt be worth bottons. Its so scary. Its not like dogs dont get into fighting, cause they do. But this wee baby had no chance. They just went for her and ripped her apart with no warning. Scary. I will be dong my best to find the onwer of these dogs and making him responsible. I mean I bet it was a girl and boy. People here are making a fortune on these tough dogs, God help the breed, thats all I can say.

| That is horrifying, I can't even imagine. Makes me want to never take my baby outside. I'm to much of a worry wart to have Bella, or any of my other dogs off leash when they aren't in a contained area anyway, but this really makes my feelings on that concrete
