| Anytime my furbabies are out of my yard (which has a 10' block wall around it) they are on lead, thank goodness. One day I was walking Samson and a guy came jogging toward me. He was exercizing his Rottweiler who was off lead. The Rott saw Sam and made a beeline for him. I grabbed my dog in my arms and turned my back on that Rott-en dog! Fortunately, the big dog was well trained and backed off when his owner called him. Whew! Any big dog with a vicious reputation for its' breed should always be leashed outside of his own home. | That poor man-- i am so sorry for him. Something very similar happened to my chihuahua about 6 years ago... a large dog took him in his mouth and tossed him around before we could intervene and we were very lucky --- he had a collapsed lung and ruptured spleen and spent 9 days at the vets but survived and he is happy and healthy but i feel it changed him quite a bit--- and us too!! |

| That is so terrible, I feel just awful for him. I can't say I would let knowing that a dog can attack another dog stop me from taking my furkids to the park or on walks though. I am always overly cautious, and after many incidents at the park w/off leash dogs now carry HALT just in case. But the dogs love being outside and to run and smell new things at the park, so I just continue to be as safe as possible and take all the precautions I can. |
