| ![]() Milo is starting to fetch his ball! I'm so excited. I give him a very little treat when he does, which seems to be doing the trick... that, and the fact that he loves chasing the little ball. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() Good for you! That's awesome. Once he gets the idea, start weaning him off the treats. Maybe give a treat every other time, then every third time, etc. Or you'll end up with a dog like I've got that holds the ball hostage for treats. I have to have a treat in my hand for him to drop it. And even then he tries to scoop the ball up after I give him the treat.

| ![]() I taught Tatum how to catch and/or chase and retrieve (depending on how well my aim is!) a frisbee (one of those small soft ones) in less than an hour by using Cheerios. They are so tiny that you can feed quite a few - which is what it takes to teach something like this usually. I would throw the frisbee and once she had it in her mouth, I'd tell her "bring it". If she came back with it, I'd say "drop it" and give her the Cheerio. If she didn't bring it, no treat. She caught on really quickly. Try using a tiny treat like Cheerios to teach yours how to fetch and "bring it".
