| Help me~ Ok here is the deal. Tino is a stud dog and has been bred, due to my amazement he never marked anything in the house....Tht is untill, we moved. We have always given him free run of the house but now we are trying to keep him in the kitchen during the day while we are not home. To my surprise the two hours we left him in there the first time, he CHEWED through the baby gate! I couldn't believe my eyes when he came bounding up to the door. Ok second attempt resulted in much paint being ripped of the bathroom door and 4 rolls of toilet paper being destroyed after we let him out ( protesting I'd imagine). He has never done this before, I feel so bad. He has also scratched so much his nails are really short to the point where I belive it is painful for him. We have bought him a new baby gate, but the outcome will be found out when I get home from work today. Tino is a great dog when we are home but he is a terror when he is left alone, What can I do better~ help me!!!! PS~ When I get home he acts like he is going to have a heart attack...worse than ever before..is this due to him not being comfortable in our new home?

| Hopefully he just needs time to adjust to his new home. In the meantime, an ex-pen probably would be a good idea. Good Luck!!

| Hi, you don't sound stupid at all!! It's an exercise pen, usually made of metal gates. Here's the link for the one I bought for Sadie. http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-36-Exe...QQcmdZViewItem It's bigger than it looks, and if you don't think it would be big enough - you can connect two of them together. If Tino is a jumper, you can buy one that is taller. I used this for Sadie while I was at work until she could be trusted with a larger area. It has room for a bed, food and water, toys and pee pads. Hopefully it would just be temporarily until your little guy is more comfortable in your new home. Good Luck!!

| OOO I like that!!! Thats more like it! I think I may just have to buy one today because he got half way through the new baby gate yesterday. How long does it typically take a dog to adjust? I think I am more upset than he is. I hate not giving him free run.

| Probably every dog takes a different amount of time to adjust. I've lived in the same house for a quite a while, so I can't help you there. Let me know how you make out with the ex-pen!

| Get the ones that don't have a gate because they are much cheaper. Attatch the expen to the "front" of the wire crate. Attach a water bottle on the fence and leave him a beef femur bone to chew on. Walk him before you leave for work. Maybe find someone who can come take him out for a long walk around noon if you can't do that. Then another long walk either an hour before he's fed or an hour after. Look in the PetEdge catalog for those expens. Shipping is MUCH cheaper than the one on Ebay. Good luck with your boy. |

| Wow thanks for the advice.. I have been taking him on non-stop walks. One in the morning and several each time he naps, play, eats etc..Just as if he was a pup again. He is still having accidents but I believe he is marking his territory with an "empty tank". He is a stud so this is to be expected but I was just suprised he never did it before the move.
