| pen on carpet? I'm getting my new puppy this Saturday morning, and he will be living in my apartment. The problem is that my apartments kitchen is very small. So, I will be setting up a playpen on the carpet. Should I line the playpen area with pee pee pads? (I'm going to get the Simple Solutions pads from Petsmart that appearantly work very well?) Do I need to have them over the whole area of the carpet? Or can I just lay down one or two? I'm also including a litter box in the corner with the Purina Pellets, in hopes that he'll learn to love that also !!! |

| Welcome to YT and congratulations on your new baby I would definitely line the carpet with something more than just pee pads - some use shower curtain liners, big piece of linoleum, etc.

| I have mine on carpet and I put down a vinyl table cloth. Turn it upside down with the felt side up. I read that on this site and it works out nicely. Then I put two pee pads over to one side. |

| I put my little guy on the carpet for the same reason. I went to Staples and got one of those big clear plastic mats that you put under your rolling desk chairs and put that on top of the carpet and the pen over that with some blankets and a bed inside. Seemed to work for me |

| I use a heavyduty, clear shower curtain under Toto's x-pen. It's easy to trim if it's too large and to wipe off if necessary or just toss it out after awhile and put another down.

| I never thought using shower curtains. With puppies we use waterproof mattress covers. I have a couple crib size and a couple twin bed size.

He's already using his pee pads (they're inside his Purina Litter box thing)... sometimes he misses but he's been really good !!! The play pen idea was BRILLIANT. Thank you everyone for the help!!! | |

| We got a playpen for our pups too. Last year when our home was finished, they left us whatever extra supplies they had (counter, flooring, etc), so we cut some of the linolium floor. If you can get free flooring (like if it's getting thrown away or whatever), or get it really cheap, I would go with that. It works good.

| someone told me that the mats they use under treadmills work great and you can secure them to the xpen so it don't move around. I have been meaning to go to walmart and get them they are under $20.00 and a set more that covers on pen. |
