| will she ever be trained!! Gucci is now a little over 4 mts old. She is basically trained on wee wee pads, not by choice...She refuses to do her business outside, for awhile I was taking her out everyday, now that the weather is turning colder I have no choice but to keep her in, and I also work. My question is as she gets older will she be set in her ways? I take her out now and then but she couldnt care less she enjoys playing outside. I will resume in the Spring, will it be to late by then? I don't mind her using the pads and along with going outside that would be great... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, does anyone else have this problem and what was the outcome? |

| Hi , it's never too late for training. Our puppy chester the yorkie is two years old an i just trained him to use the wee pads. Mind you he will hold it in as long as he has too nearly 11 hours before he will use it. He is so use to going outside. It also gets very cold here in toronto canada and lots of snow. So this year I wanted him to have an option for when it gets really cold. last year it was like a low of -22 and we still had to take him out as he would not go on paper or pads. When I had missy my old maltese she would not go outside at all ,she would hold it until we came in. I would have to take her for a very long walk. You may have to use traing aid spray on the pad as well as outside so she knows she can go outside. You may also have to take her for very long walks ten min right after you feed her. Watch her carfully you may not even notice that she is going outside. When we got our new maltese ,chelsey two weeks ago I did not realize she went. Cause she is so small and very low to the ground. She is trained to go outside and in. I hope this helps. Just keep trying. Some puppies need more time. |

| Gucci, I hear you! LOL! It has been a challenge with Mei Mei.........I have had her since she was 3 months old and she is now 5 months old. She understands to go potty outside and that is good to do, but does not understand that going potty inside is bad. It just take a lot of hard work and patience..........I have a 1 year old Pomeranian that still is not 100% potty trained, and we also have a 7 month old Shih Tzu. So, we are dealing with quite a bit right now! If she is your only dog or puppy, it shouldn't take as long, so keep at it!! She will eventually catch on! My big problem with Mei Mei is barking.........she yaps at the drop of a pin. Also at night multiple times, which gets very frusterating.

| Aww, what a sweet Grandma! I think it just takes time, but it's never too late to train! Be persistent, and when you are at home, take time to train her to go outside, especially on days when you are at home all day. |
